And Soylent Green is supposed to take place in 2022. So maybe one for New Years!

2021-12-23 14:05:14 +0000 UTCContact is beautiful, but it can feel like you're being spoon fed science. Depends on where you are, Carl Sagan is my childhood idol, one of the single people I would have loved to pay a lunch and discuss some topics. The book Contact is present in the movie "The Fly", and in your youtube reaction video! :D
Hugo Ferreira
2021-11-03 12:53:08 +0000 UTCContact stinks, Soylent Green is underrated
Ken Veader
2021-11-02 16:24:46 +0000 UTCContact is one of my 2 favorites movies of all time. Shawshank being the other. I love the internal science vs faith theme in it.

2021-11-02 14:30:48 +0000 UTCI just want to give a shout out to "Dark City." It is a masterpiece of dark noir alien Scifi. Its one of those sleeper gems that you should not ignore. Roger Ebert Loved it so much he contributed to the special features of one of the video releases.

2021-11-02 06:42:03 +0000 UTCWhile I definitely want to see POTA it is the start of a long franchise which means lots of waiting over the months to finish the rest of them so for this poll I pick the extraordinary Contact.
2021-10-28 23:42:16 +0000 UTCAgreed!
JayWantsACat
2021-10-28 16:46:56 +0000 UTCPlanet of the Apes (1968) 2. Contact 3. Soylent Green 4. Gattaca 5. Rollerball (1975)

2021-10-25 19:02:38 +0000 UTCGattaca and Dark City are so underrated and under- reacted to. I hope you two are able to get to them some day.
JayWantsACat
2021-10-25 18:35:36 +0000 UTCI’d add two by Alex Garland: “Ex-Machina” and “Annihilation”.
Michael Soukup
2021-10-25 17:53:04 +0000 UTCYay! My long time suggestion of 'Dark City' has finally made it to the poll! Too bad it'll probably lose to one of these other heavy hitters. Maybe next month...

2021-10-25 13:42:58 +0000 UTCWait, wait. We're just all assuming you've seen Interstellar. You've seen Interstellar, right?
Neal Romanek
2021-10-24 19:16:38 +0000 UTCI'm glad Contact is doing well but I hope Gattaca gets another chance down the line because it's so good.

2021-10-24 18:52:59 +0000 UTCA romance/love story category would be great!
Neal Romanek
2021-10-24 18:15:24 +0000 UTCI love Soylent Green more than I can say. Some other great 70's dystopia classics - Logan's Run, Rollerball, THX-1138 (George Lucas's first film - do the original cut), Westworld, The Man Who Fell To Earth.
Neal Romanek
2021-10-24 18:14:41 +0000 UTCGreat list.

2021-10-24 18:08:01 +0000 UTCFor Cronenberg month please.

2021-10-24 18:06:36 +0000 UTCCity Of Lost Children is really strange and interesting.
Neal Romanek
2021-10-24 18:06:22 +0000 UTCPS, Portis: I don't want to oversell it either, it's a major classic movie that is definitely worth seeing. A great 1950s sci-fi movie. It's not "2001", it's not "Close Encounters"......it's "Forbidden Planet"! It's it's own thing. I don't know your tastes so.....
Toc
2021-10-24 17:51:06 +0000 UTCYup. Great movie, and super groundbreaking . Stars Leslie Nielsen, this is what he was known for before "Airplane" and "Naked Gun". Gorgeous visual effects and spectacular set design. Dazzling color. Great story. Definitely the greatest sci-fi movie of the 50s, a decade which had some strong contenders. I feel like watching it now, just typing about it! :D

2021-10-24 17:44:18 +0000 UTCPeople are sleeping on "Dark City"-- a sci-fi GEM.
Mr. Writhms
2021-10-24 15:57:15 +0000 UTCI chose "Planet of the Apes" (1968)(the one that started the franchise). "Contact" (1977) and "Soylent Green" ( 1973) would be my second or third choice. Because Science Fiction has so many eras and sub-genres, might I suggest a separate poll for early Science Fiction BEFORE "Star Wars", and AFTER "Star Wars"? Other suggestions (PRE "Star Wars"): "The Day The Earth Stood Still" (1951), Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal "The Thing From Another World" (1951), Kenneth Tobey, Margaret Sheridan, James Arness "Forbidden Planet" (1956), Leslie Nielsen, Anne Francis, Walter Pidgeon "When Worlds Collide" (1951), Richard Derr, Barbara Rush, Larry Keating "Logan's Run" (1976), Michael York, Jenny Agutter, Richard Jordan "Metropolis" (1927)(silent) - Brigitte Helm, Alfred Abel, Gustav Fröhlich
Miles E Coburn
2021-10-24 12:58:13 +0000 UTCForbidden Planet from 1956? (i don't know it, just looked it up on imdb..)
Portis
2021-10-24 12:48:03 +0000 UTCI love Minority Report & Contact!
Portis
2021-10-24 12:46:49 +0000 UTCGood to see "Planet Of The Apes" doing so well, I've seen two reaction videos for that that are fantastic. Such a great movie. I'm adding "FORBIDDEN PLANET" as a suggestion, to complete what I consider the holy trinity of ground breaking, dazzling special effects in a profound, one-of-a-kind sci-fi movie (the other two being "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Close Encounters")!
Tic Toc Melody
2021-10-24 08:44:47 +0000 UTCHER needs to go back into that poll! Or maybe do a romance category, or a romance sci-fi, then it will win! Maybe. 😅
Domino
2021-10-24 06:36:40 +0000 UTCAll are pretty awesome, I had to vote Gattaca because it's rare I even hear someone mention this movie and it's such a small but great story.

2021-10-24 05:45:43 +0000 UTCI voted for Contact, which is excellent, but my heart says Dark City.

2021-10-24 04:43:46 +0000 UTCLMAO. A few reactors have already reacted to it. It's so damned good. The movie is only about half of the book, though. The idea is that the sequel is supposed to be the other half. A lot of people have appreciated knowing that, and one reactor who didn't said the story felt too incomplete until they found that out. I think it would be a great movie for these two to react to.

2021-10-24 03:49:24 +0000 UTCDamn it is! Downloading as we speak :) er....I mean......watching on HBO.....not bittorrent....

2021-10-24 03:46:37 +0000 UTCSci-fi films worthy of consideration for the next poll: Fantastic Voyage (1966) — The War of the Worlds (1953) — The Man Who Fell To Earth (1976)

2021-10-24 02:24:05 +0000 UTCSuggestions for future polls: District 9 (2009), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), The Martian (2015).

2021-10-23 23:41:23 +0000 UTCFor the future I’d recommend adding Videodrome and Existenz.
Arya Amirsoleimani
2021-10-23 23:29:03 +0000 UTCYou should consider reacting to Delicatessen and City of Lost Children. I'm not sure how widely known they are, so they may not win many polls, but they're both great! And then you can do Amelie after (all three by the same director, first two have two directors)
bosho11
2021-10-23 23:24:03 +0000 UTCI'd like to also suggest Dune. The remake that just came out a few days ago. It's amazing.
Raven Dark
2021-10-23 23:15:11 +0000 UTCVast Of Night on Amazon Prime. Throwback to the 50’s sci fil movies with some amazing filmmaking tricks thrown in. Completely riveting.
