Oh you should totally watch the sequel The Fly 2! Yeah ever since I saw this movie in the late 80`s as a 12 your old I can`t look at a fly without picturing it vomiting on what it lands on! LOL! And this was another of those ones I watched when I was wayyyy too young due to the local video store not giving a damn what age we were! I think I`d previously mentioned that in Highlander with the Kurgen, so really what a wally I was hahahaa. Wow I was just waiting for your reactions to all those gross things and I`d actually forgotten just how good the effects were, although I`d stupidly started this while cooking some food and got cocky as I`d seen this loads of times years ago and thought Oh I`ll be fineeeeee (silly me LOL), I soon had to switch off my oven and ditch that idea :-D

The original always makes me think about that Simpsons' Tree House of Horrors episode about the film.

*Jeff Goldblum flirts with Geena Davis*
TBR: "So smooth!"
Sam: "So awkward!"
Lol, you guys crack me up :)
TBR: "Is she pregnant with a..."
TBR & Sam: "Brundlefly???"
This movie is so fucking mental... I love it so much! The 80s were a weird fucking time for movies, to say the least :) And, as a quick aside, Jeff Goldblum is actually a very gifted jazz pianist who has played numerous live shows in the past and I think even released a couple of albums... I'm guessing him providing his own soundtrack for that early on scene (which was great!) was likely his idea :)
TBR: "This movie is gonna cause permanent damage..."
Sam: "So thanks to our patrons!"
You're VERY welcome, guys!! :D

The original film did exactly what you were hoping for, the scientist got a fly head and arm and he had to find the fly which had a human head and arm. It sounds stupid but is actually kinda creepy.

Not to scar you two too much, but there is a sequel to this with Eric Stoltz - The Fly 2

I took biology in school first thing we learned was insects and yes that's literally how a Fly eats. A Fly has no teeth like he said .

In the story of Frankenstein what happened if everything were reversed . That your invention created a monster and that monster was you and you didn't even know it happened.

His experiment with the Steak was similar to the food simulators on Star Trek. If you ask for a Pizza your get what the computer thinks is a pizza. It will taste like a Pizza but it's synthetic.

John Getz has mostly been a working actor on television, but he has three notable film roles (for me, at least): this film, he's the male lead in the Coen Brothers "Blood Simple", and he's the villain in a forgotten, but enjoyable, comedy from 1990 called "Men at Work", starring Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen (also features everyone's favorite, Keith David). He's also in the sequel to this film.

Yeah, Cronenberg originally made a name for himself as a director of really unique and disturbing art but has sadly moved away from it in recent years. But his work with The Fly and also another film called Night Breed (based on a ridiculously thick Clive Barker novel called Kabal) really solidified him as one of my favorite directors for horror. He also did another film called M. Butterfly that's more drama/political intrigue but it's fantastic!

Great reaction! This one of the best horror remakes ever-- along with "The Thing"!
David Cronenberg had a cameo in The Fly. He was the doctor delivering the... ughh... huge maggot-baby. *gag*
Also... Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis had such great chemistry together because they were an actual couple during the filming.
"The Fly" and "Naked Lunch" (1991) are my 2 favorite Cronenberg movies.

The David Cronenberg universe is weird but definitely enjoyable. If you want another movie of his and a good for Halloween definitely Scanners is awesome.

Welcome to the world of David Cronenberg. He’s known as the master of body horror but he has a diverse catalogue of movies that include thrillers also. All worth watching. Videodrome, The Brood, Dead Ringers, Rabid, Naked Lunch, A History of Violence, Scanners among others
