Agreed. While there was some small manipulation, that is what they are trained to do. Their job is to try to find the truth and the best time to ask these kinds of questions, and apply your training in evaluating the answers, is when the person is off balance.

He wasn't trying to get him to confess by interrogating him, He's trying to get the time line of events that led to a persons death from someone who went in with one story and then changed it and also is cagey on other details. Those are red flags.

He was being very manipulative about it. The guy has been up all night and you're purposely stalling his coffee so he might get tired enough to confess. If he is guilty, it should be determined through analysis of evidence, and not by torturing the suspect with lack of rest until he's exhausted enough to confess.

Why did you two hate the police officer at the beginning? He was just doing his job

Mr. Dudley's monologue...that actor killed it. It was all one take, right? Amazing. And to me, Hugh still doesn't tell his kids anything because that's his 'fix' and he'd rather have them hate him than for them to learn and confront the truth (as we know it at this point). You might see a hint as to who that dead body in the wall is when you edit for the reaction vid.
Like you said, it's ridiculous this wasn't nominated for more awards. But Stephen King said "I don't usually care for this kind of revisionism, but this is great. Close to a work of genius, really. I think Shirley Jackson would approve,,," and Quentin Tarantino said "My favorite Netflix series, with no competition, is The Haunting of Hill House." So maybe that praise is even better than awards.
