Generation Kill Part Four 'Combat Jack' Full TV Reaction!!

Just in case it hasn't been pointed out by anyone else, the person playing Rudy Reyes, is the real Rudy Reyes from 1st Battalion. So them saying Fruity Rudy, they're saying it to the actual guy who is really that bad ass. He was the martial art expert of their battalion and really did things like you have seen him do. This series is almost a word for word adaptation of the book, and the book was written while there because the reporter took notes the whole time.

I've read the book, and I'd recommend it! You'll recognize a lot of the scenes and dialogue from the show, but you get more of Evan Wright's (the reporter) personal observations, which are quite interesting. You also get some background on instances that are mentioned in the show, but not shown. Like when Colbert says, "When push comes to shove, even Rolling Stone picks up a gun." The actual incident is described in the book.

Just another one of the countless ways this series is so realistic. I can speak from experience as an Iraq vet, the homoeroticism is real. We had a guy who had a disproportionately large ass and we would slap it all the time and tell him how fine it was. Or just out of the blue make up some shit about what happened the night before, "Hey Jackson, you were a bit rough last night I'm sore asf!"

I do not do well in awkward situations! He asked for honesty and boy, he sure got it. I couldn't agree more! It is very odd. And I bet the book is fantastic! Haha enjoy your watch!! We're blowing through this series watching two per week :) -Sam

"Well, sir, it's just that you're incompetent, sir." Jesus. Has a problem ever been more comprehensively and succinctly described before? I think not. Lol, Sam, you looked so uncomfortable during that exchange. "[It means] that religion is gay." I find the soldiers' relationship with the concept of homosexuality to be fascinating. Under-normal-circumstances-assumed-to-be derogatory homosexual epithets are used only flippantly for (relatively-speaking) inconsequential criticisms while, at the same time, when genuinely praising another soldier, it's common for them to playfully express homo-erotic desires/intentions towards said soldier (and joyfully so!) An interesting juxtaposition, I think. I wonder how good the book is that the show is based on. Has anybody here read it? I think this was the best episode yet. I'm enjoying this series so much more now than I did when it originally came out. Lol, I'm not gonna make it another week, I'm binging the rest asap! :S

This episode gives some room to another Marine who was actually there, interestingly portraying someone else. Real Eric Kocher plays the role of Gunnery Sgt. Rich Barrett who's driving Assassin Actual vehicle with Capt. Patterson (Michael Kelly). I really enjoy rewatching this miniseries with you. It's like having a bunch of friends who actually pay attention to what they watch and can hold a discussion afterwards. I love it!

That marine who likes to yell about the grooming standards is a Sergeant Major, it's the highest rank an enlisted person can achieve, takes decades to get there... and they're pretty much exactly the same in the Army, true lifers who love and live for their branch. I had a Battalion Command Sergeant Major we all called Darth Vader, because when he would rip into an NCO it was like that force choke, they couldn't even speak lol. Then I had another one whose last name was General, no shit, so he was Sergeant Major General, the guy was intimidating but also one of the funniest people I've ever met.
