The scene when Rust interviews Tuttle he has a gold tie, watch, rings and handkerchief implying he was the yellowking.

I was literally obsessed with Mindhunter! I think I binged both seasons in 1 weekend 😂 I hope it comes back! I’ve been hearing yes and no!

Aww I’m so sorry for the loss of your pup! That is a great point though. We were really trying to find more connections and it really just comes down to getting to know Marty and Rust more than it actually being relevant! Thanks for pointing that out!

If you guys like this murder mystery i highly recommend MindHunter on netflix. Directed by David fincher who did Seven, Fight club, Gone Girl, ect. Or Fargo Season 1 specifically. It wraps up in 1 season like true detective.

"It was the fucking landscaper!" - so funny. I'm sure everybody thought the same thing the first time watching. Man, he was freaky and so scary.

It's been great watching True Detective again along with these videos. I hadn't realized it had been way back in '14 when it premiered since I'd seen it. I recall the basics of the ending (and I remember loving it too), but some of the specific details have gotten blurry in the intervening years. So, I'm really looking forward to closing it out soon with Episode 8. I think you guys are really going to enjoy it.

I was wondering if it how soon you guys would recognize the groundskeeper lol. It's my second watch so I'm laughing because you had the same reaction I did, how the catatonic girl called him "the giant", how clever was it that he was sitting in both scenes? And all the detectives, even Rust, we were right there but were looking elsewhere. There's no way to have guessed in his first appearance of his relevance but like Rust said about his copious note taking, you never know what detail will break the case...
Such phenomenally solid mystery writing. It's kinda but not exactly, that "detective's curse", that Marty mentioned about how, in his case, his inattention is what lost him his family. This show, or season of it anyway, is so meta. I honestly think I'm going to watch it over a few more times, I'm seeing so many of the hints on my "on second watch this show is even better than I remember" viewing 😆

Not saying what is and isn’t plot-centric in this series (still stuff to be revealed), but just in general, some of what I most appreciate about the script are the large, important aspects of their lives that actually DON’T directly contribute to the main story….which is very true to real life. I remember getting ready to deploy years back, and my dog died while I was putting stuff in storage, I came home and found him.. Now, if a film or book were being made about my war story that part would probably get left out, and yet it’s the only part of that time I remember like it was yesterday. Anyway, I appreciate the seeming randomness they included in this series; made it much more real to me, since life is never just about one thing, especially when we want it to be. Great job as always, looking forward to the finale!

I love the writing of this show but it's also the shots from the director, Joji Fukunaga. He lines up things in such a great way and really shows the lay of the land to make this show memorable. It's not just the mystery, it's the setting of this show that haunts you in the end. Joji is a big part of this.
