I'm actually really surprised that Hellraiser isn't on this list. Pinhead really is one of the most recognized slasher viilains and is one of the Big 7. Freddy Jason Michael Myers Pinhead Ghostface Chucky Leatherface

I'm glad to see so many people suggesting that you watch the other slasher classics before Scream. Scream is great regardless, but you will have a whole new appreciation for it once you've seen the others first. After all, Scream spoils the ending of Friday the 13th in its opening.

Joshua Nelson

Hi, I’m brand new here. I have a huge warning about watching Scream first. If you watch Scream it will give away the shocking ending of the 1st Friday The 13th. Please don’t watch Scream before Friday the 13th. I seen another YouTube make the same mistake. I love the whole scream series too. But wait & watch Fri. 13th first. I don’t want the shocking ending of it ruined for both of you. We are huge fans of you both & you are the first ones we are patrons of. Thanks for keeping the prices low so I can try this out.

Christine

Suhweet!

Neal Romanek

Yes! Since Scream will likely win, we moved some things around for October so hopefully we'll get all we need watched prior to seeing Scream! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Psycho is coming! :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Oh no! Well the votes agreed lol -Sam

TBR Schmitt

There are a ton of Halloween films! I hope we can get to them all eventually :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We have so many movies to watch! -Sam

After "Halloween" (1978-- which you watched already) the original "Friday The 13th" solidified the slasher genre. "Scream" is a satire of the slasher genre. May I suggest... if "Scream" wins, watch "Friday The 13th" first with a disclaimer explaining why. Then watch "Scream" shortly after? I think everyone will understand.

Mr. Writhms

Yeah Hitchcock’s Psycho needs to be included here.

Arya Amirsoleimani

Wait, does Psycho count in this genre? If so that needs to go to the top of the list - it's the great, great grandmother of all slasher movies.

Neal Romanek

There's a lot of wisdom in that.

Neal Romanek

I love Scream, and would love to see you all watch it. That said: Scream is "about" the horror classics of the70s, 80s, and 90s in much the same way that Last Action Hero is "about" Arnold's cinematic legacy. I don't know that you need to do a horror deep dive, necessarily, certainly nothing like your Arnold journey. But you may have more context for some of what Scream is trying to do if you watched a few highlights first. Personally, I'd say at least check out the original Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street first, then Scream after that.

Dylan Platt

Look - I’m going to ask you guys to veto your own audience. I’m not saying don’t watch scream. I am saying watch some of the other classics first. The more you do the more you will appreciate scream.

Nick Kessler

I voted scream as well

Richard Flanagan

Slasher's aren't really my horror genre, but I love TCM 2's frenetic craziness. And Nightmare On Elm Street is a 1980's horror classic.

Neal Romanek

Thanks for letting us know! If it does win, we may need to watch the others first, even if we wait to put up the reactions -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Uh oh.. hmm, we'll need to take this into consideration if it wins -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Okay, I voted for Nightmare On Elm Street but it was a toss up between that and Texas Chainsaw 2, (which is 100% an insane, horror comedy.) Based on the current results, I have to assume most people haven’t seen Texas Chainsaw 2, (anyone who hasn’t seen it, but has seen the first film and loves the horror-comedy genre, NEEDS to watch this film.)

Damiana_Dimock

The struggle here is, do we want y’all to watch a quality film or have a good time. 🤔 Half of these are good ol’ classics and the other half are fun, borderline comedy-horror.

Damiana_Dimock

I agree. If you haven't seen any of these films, it seems crazy to watch Scream before Friday 13th, A Nightmare on Elm St, and Halloween. Scream is like a spoiler for an entire genre.

Future Boy

It isn't the scariest, but it is by far th emost fun movie of all of these.

Shaun2342!

Scream.is my favorite horror film of all time. HOWEVER, you guys really need to watch Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th film series to truly appreciate the Scream films.

David Crabtree

Friday The 13th is the best slasher franchise in Horror film history and makes for awesome reactions because they're fun

Ken Veader

I know people want Scream to be reacted to (I do too) but because of it's meta nature, I feel like some of the others should be watched first (such as Nightmare On Elm Street, another Wes Craven classic). What's great in Scream is that they reference other horror movies a whole bunch, but they also spoil some of them. I guess if it wins the poll, you'll have to just do it anyway, but yeah, just wanted to put that out there lol.

Lee Brennan

Scream should definitely be last despite it's popularity. I will say, I'm a bit biased as I don't find the film scary, interesting to watch or as clever now as it once was. As far as seeing something really imaginative and not somebody just stabbing people with a knife, Nightmare would be your best choice.

Jimmie V

Yeah, I was gonna say, Scream really should be watched last from this list, since it references and borrows from so many of the others.

Future Boy

I enjoyed the films, but the original Tim Curry Pennywise is untouchable. It was so terrifying, especially given that it was a TV miniseries.

Jen Barnes

We watched the original last Halloween 😊 it is up on the channel! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I agree, context is everything. Needs to be wathed right from the beginning

Andy Farmer

Personally I`d recommend the original IT from 1990, it`s soooooo much better

Andy Farmer

You need to know if Scream wins it has a massive spoiler about the first Friday the 13

Mark Dandy

For Halloween you should react to the 1978 original film, then the sequel to that film released in 2018.

Lee

I voted Scream since its really good and kind of revitalized the genre in it's time.

JayWantsACat

IT is a quality movie & does the novel justice. Scream a classic but also tedious.

Matthew Brock

TCM2 is garbage, by the way. And I love the first one.

Nick of Time

Scream really brought the horror genre back after it sort of died off after the 80s.

Chris

Voted A Nightmare on Elm Street, was my first ever horror movie I saw. It's a great psychological slasher.

Phantom Stranger

*edit* I didn’t realize the Halloween film in the poll is the new sequel to the original. I thought it was the Rob Zombie remake. Either way, it still gets my vote. But I highly recommend both of Zombie’s Halloween films.

Nick of Time

Child’s Play is so unique if neither of you have seen it. It’s just great. I would say the same thing about Nightmare on Elm. Who do you want to get introduced to Chucky or Freddy? Both movies are def worth watching
