I'm actually really surprised that Hellraiser isn't on this list. Pinhead really is one of the most recognized slasher viilains and is one of the Big 7. Freddy Jason Michael Myers Pinhead Ghostface Chucky Leatherface

2021-10-05 11:53:51 +0000 UTCI'm glad to see so many people suggesting that you watch the other slasher classics before Scream. Scream is great regardless, but you will have a whole new appreciation for it once you've seen the others first. After all, Scream spoils the ending of Friday the 13th in its opening.

2021-09-26 19:24:15 +0000 UTCHi, I’m brand new here. I have a huge warning about watching Scream first. If you watch Scream it will give away the shocking ending of the 1st Friday The 13th. Please don’t watch Scream before Friday the 13th. I seen another YouTube make the same mistake. I love the whole scream series too. But wait & watch Fri. 13th first. I don’t want the shocking ending of it ruined for both of you. We are huge fans of you both & you are the first ones we are patrons of. Thanks for keeping the prices low so I can try this out.
Christine

2021-09-14 08:34:07 +0000 UTCYes! Since Scream will likely win, we moved some things around for October so hopefully we'll get all we need watched prior to seeing Scream! -Sam

2021-09-13 18:21:10 +0000 UTCThere are a ton of Halloween films! I hope we can get to them all eventually :) -Sam

2021-09-13 18:20:39 +0000 UTCWe have so many movies to watch! -Sam

2021-09-13 18:19:41 +0000 UTCAfter "Halloween" (1978-- which you watched already) the original "Friday The 13th" solidified the slasher genre. "Scream" is a satire of the slasher genre. May I suggest... if "Scream" wins, watch "Friday The 13th" first with a disclaimer explaining why. Then watch "Scream" shortly after? I think everyone will understand.

2021-09-05 07:15:23 +0000 UTCYeah Hitchcock’s Psycho needs to be included here.
Arya Amirsoleimani
2021-09-01 18:57:58 +0000 UTCWait, does Psycho count in this genre? If so that needs to go to the top of the list - it's the great, great grandmother of all slasher movies.
Neal Romanek
2021-08-28 21:34:42 +0000 UTCThere's a lot of wisdom in that.

2021-08-28 21:32:48 +0000 UTCI love Scream, and would love to see you all watch it. That said: Scream is "about" the horror classics of the70s, 80s, and 90s in much the same way that Last Action Hero is "about" Arnold's cinematic legacy. I don't know that you need to do a horror deep dive, necessarily, certainly nothing like your Arnold journey. But you may have more context for some of what Scream is trying to do if you watched a few highlights first. Personally, I'd say at least check out the original Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street first, then Scream after that.

2021-08-26 06:01:00 +0000 UTCLook - I’m going to ask you guys to veto your own audience. I’m not saying don’t watch scream. I am saying watch some of the other classics first. The more you do the more you will appreciate scream.
Nick Kessler
2021-08-23 16:57:42 +0000 UTCI voted scream as well
Richard Flanagan
2021-08-20 01:28:37 +0000 UTCSlasher's aren't really my horror genre, but I love TCM 2's frenetic craziness. And Nightmare On Elm Street is a 1980's horror classic.
Neal Romanek
2021-08-19 19:34:18 +0000 UTCThanks for letting us know! If it does win, we may need to watch the others first, even if we wait to put up the reactions -Sam

2021-08-18 17:50:14 +0000 UTCUh oh.. hmm, we'll need to take this into consideration if it wins -Sam

2021-08-18 17:49:18 +0000 UTCOkay, I voted for Nightmare On Elm Street but it was a toss up between that and Texas Chainsaw 2, (which is 100% an insane, horror comedy.) Based on the current results, I have to assume most people haven’t seen Texas Chainsaw 2, (anyone who hasn’t seen it, but has seen the first film and loves the horror-comedy genre, NEEDS to watch this film.)

2021-08-17 21:25:40 +0000 UTCThe struggle here is, do we want y’all to watch a quality film or have a good time. 🤔 Half of these are good ol’ classics and the other half are fun, borderline comedy-horror.
Damiana_Dimock
2021-08-17 21:23:01 +0000 UTCI agree. If you haven't seen any of these films, it seems crazy to watch Scream before Friday 13th, A Nightmare on Elm St, and Halloween. Scream is like a spoiler for an entire genre.
Future Boy
2021-08-17 19:36:09 +0000 UTCIt isn't the scariest, but it is by far th emost fun movie of all of these.
Shaun2342!
2021-08-17 17:13:33 +0000 UTCScream.is my favorite horror film of all time. HOWEVER, you guys really need to watch Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th film series to truly appreciate the Scream films.
David Crabtree
2021-08-17 00:06:04 +0000 UTCFriday The 13th is the best slasher franchise in Horror film history and makes for awesome reactions because they're fun
Ken Veader
2021-08-16 22:38:21 +0000 UTCI know people want Scream to be reacted to (I do too) but because of it's meta nature, I feel like some of the others should be watched first (such as Nightmare On Elm Street, another Wes Craven classic). What's great in Scream is that they reference other horror movies a whole bunch, but they also spoil some of them. I guess if it wins the poll, you'll have to just do it anyway, but yeah, just wanted to put that out there lol.
Lee Brennan
2021-08-16 20:39:30 +0000 UTCScream should definitely be last despite it's popularity. I will say, I'm a bit biased as I don't find the film scary, interesting to watch or as clever now as it once was. As far as seeing something really imaginative and not somebody just stabbing people with a knife, Nightmare would be your best choice.
Jimmie V
2021-08-16 20:33:37 +0000 UTCYeah, I was gonna say, Scream really should be watched last from this list, since it references and borrows from so many of the others.
Future Boy
2021-08-16 17:46:47 +0000 UTCI enjoyed the films, but the original Tim Curry Pennywise is untouchable. It was so terrifying, especially given that it was a TV miniseries.
Jen Barnes
2021-08-16 17:09:04 +0000 UTCWe watched the original last Halloween 😊 it is up on the channel! -Sam

2021-08-16 16:44:11 +0000 UTCI agree, context is everything. Needs to be wathed right from the beginning
Andy Farmer
2021-08-16 16:22:52 +0000 UTCPersonally I`d recommend the original IT from 1990, it`s soooooo much better
Andy Farmer
2021-08-16 16:20:17 +0000 UTCYou need to know if Scream wins it has a massive spoiler about the first Friday the 13
Mark Dandy
2021-08-16 16:08:14 +0000 UTCFor Halloween you should react to the 1978 original film, then the sequel to that film released in 2018.
Lee
2021-08-16 16:03:48 +0000 UTCI voted Scream since its really good and kind of revitalized the genre in it's time.
JayWantsACat
2021-08-16 15:57:47 +0000 UTCIT is a quality movie & does the novel justice. Scream a classic but also tedious.
Matthew Brock
2021-08-16 15:57:41 +0000 UTCTCM2 is garbage, by the way. And I love the first one.
Nick of Time
2021-08-16 15:55:05 +0000 UTCScream really brought the horror genre back after it sort of died off after the 80s.
Chris
2021-08-16 15:53:29 +0000 UTCVoted A Nightmare on Elm Street, was my first ever horror movie I saw. It's a great psychological slasher.
Phantom Stranger
2021-08-16 15:53:22 +0000 UTC*edit* I didn’t realize the Halloween film in the poll is the new sequel to the original. I thought it was the Rob Zombie remake. Either way, it still gets my vote. But I highly recommend both of Zombie’s Halloween films.
Nick of Time
2021-08-16 15:52:39 +0000 UTCChild’s Play is so unique if neither of you have seen it. It’s just great. I would say the same thing about Nightmare on Elm. Who do you want to get introduced to Chucky or Freddy? Both movies are def worth watching
