Special Request Drama Poll!
Added 2021-06-22 03:28:48 +0000 UTCHelp pick the Drama movie we will react to!
*We received requests to create a poll that separated the big blockbuster films, so we hope you like this poll! Please continue to let us know what you think of the polls.*
Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!
NOTE: I have seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, so this would only be Sam's first time reaction.
*We received a ton suggestions on the last polls, but we are trying to keep the poll sizes more reasonable. We have noted all suggestions for future polls!

I just rewatched Adaptation - so, so great.

2021-07-19 11:50:50 +0000 UTCBlue Velvet is the baseline for Lynch.

2021-07-11 10:46:18 +0000 UTCAlright. As a Mulholland Drive fan and as someone who can absolutely empathize with Jimmie V regarding the way this poll has turned out (I may or may not be picking out my hair at the result! ...we got SO!... CLOSE!), I have to ask: have you ever considered doing random reactions at times? As in: maybe taking these poll suggestions and letting luck pick out a random movie title? It HAS to be a good strategy for patron retention, right? Say, people might keep pledging if they think their super obscure request may get a shot at a reaction when they wouldnβt win the popularity vote otherwise. Regardlessβ¦ thanks for doing this poll. It really is plain to tell that you've gone out of your way to accommodate your supporters.

2021-07-11 04:15:47 +0000 UTCNo need to apologize! We love the passion you guys have for films! I think Candyman might be one of my favorite reactions. The movie was absolutely terrifying and I think it made for a pretty funny reaction! Hope you enjoyed it! -Sam

2021-07-08 17:42:56 +0000 UTCI"m sorry... I literally said I would be cool no matter what and then I commented with that whole spoiled-sport bad-loser comment. But thank you for being cool. I was just watching your candyman reaction last night and it's classic.

2021-07-04 00:57:17 +0000 UTCI say start with season one of Twin Peaks, but if you must start with a film, it really depends on how weird you want to go. Would you like me to list his movies in order of how disturbing they are? π
Nick of Time
2021-07-03 23:15:54 +0000 UTCI have to agree with Tyler here. The films are so odd (I love them but they can be off putting to the uninitiated) I feel Twin Peaks is the best way to get your feet wet in David Lynch filmography. Season One is only seven episodes so itβs a relatively small commitment. Then yes, season two AND THEN the movie and finally season three.
Nick of Time
2021-07-03 23:13:39 +0000 UTCIt's pretty rare I see two movies this neck-and-neck in the reactor Patreon polls. Excited to hear that it sounds like you'll do both. Those will both be great videos.
Tyler Foster
2021-07-03 23:02:56 +0000 UTCLost Highway or Blue Velvet feel like better intros to Lynch, IMO. Or you could always watch "Twin Peaks," which starts out simple and gets increasingly wild as it goes along (just make sure to watch the original show, the movie, and then the newer show in the order they were made, not in-story chronological order).

2021-07-03 23:01:59 +0000 UTCThank you for the recommendations! -Sam

2021-07-03 22:41:30 +0000 UTCHaha! We are going to try to get to them all! Too many good films! -Sam

2021-07-03 22:40:52 +0000 UTCWhat other David Lynch recommendations do you have?! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
2021-07-03 22:40:31 +0000 UTCThey're holding so close! It looks like we may have to do them both! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
2021-07-03 22:40:13 +0000 UTCHaha we have an endless list of incredible movies to watch! We were thinking a crap film would be funny! I've added them to the list! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
2021-07-03 22:39:52 +0000 UTCIt's looking like we're going to be doing both! They keep catching up to each other! We definitely want to get as many of these on the channel as we can :) -Sam

2021-07-03 22:38:26 +0000 UTCLooks like ET is pulling ahead and that's fine. It's a cute little film, but I think at this point, you guys might seriously consider eventually throwing in MD as bonus to please the weirdos like me in this crowd AND ALSO blow your minds because it will easily be the most transgressive film you will have reacted to thus far.
Jimmie V
2021-07-02 06:30:25 +0000 UTCEternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind will be a great start into movies written by Charlie Kaufman

2021-07-01 15:42:47 +0000 UTCReally I would have to recommend two David Lynch films that would be great to see on a poll at some point: Wild at Heart (with Nicholas Cage) and Blue Velvet (with Dennis Hopper). Both are crazy - Wild at Heart is Nic Cage being crazy, and Blue Velvet is ...crazy.
Chris
2021-06-29 05:46:09 +0000 UTCFrom the same collection of Stephen King novellas as The Shawshank Redemption and is also one of the great Stephen King adaptations (even though it's not horror).
Neal Romanek
2021-06-28 13:07:05 +0000 UTCYeah, I like the idea of a "Wild Card" movie that can sneak past the popular vote now and then.
Neal Romanek
2021-06-28 13:05:35 +0000 UTCAh, yes! Frequency is dynamite!
Neal Romanek
2021-06-28 13:04:25 +0000 UTCDang I know a poll is a poll but To Live and Die in LA is amazing. Also it's grittier than any of these other movies. Hopefully you guys watch it eventually.
Mason Mason
2021-06-26 21:50:47 +0000 UTCI voted for Mulholland Drive, but I don't know if that's really the best place to start when it comes to David Lynch.
Nick of Time
2021-06-26 07:29:32 +0000 UTCI hope you end up doing the top two. I love MD but I also want to see you guys do Eternal Sunshine. None of the other polls are this close, so it feels like the votes are telling you to do this!
Tyler Foster
2021-06-25 06:03:16 +0000 UTCPlan 9 is goofy as hell but it's worth it, if just to see Bela Lugosi's final performance. He was a legend.

2021-06-24 18:29:14 +0000 UTCGreat movie. And I really, really, really love Plan 9. It's so pure and earnest and terrible and absolutely hilarious.
Neal Romanek
2021-06-24 11:55:52 +0000 UTCEd Wood definitely needs more love than it gets, great movie. Better if you see Plan 9 first perhaps.
Eddie Collison
2021-06-23 14:18:57 +0000 UTCThinking about it, I believe you guys have been recommended too many great movies lately. Surely we need to balance that out with a crappy movie, here and there, so you guys can get your roast on as well! :) With that in mind, and getting a little meta about it, how about Ed Wood (1994)? It's about the real-life director of Plan 9 From Outer Space (generally considered one of the worst films of all time.) It's by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp. Burton's filmography has some great ones in it... could be interesting to start down that road as well.
Uncle 'Traveling' Matt
2021-06-23 10:50:20 +0000 UTCI'd throw Melancholia on that list... easily the best opening 15 minutes I've ever seen in a film (the rest is great, too, but seriously, try watching the first 15 and if you're not interested after that, turn it off and move on, haha)..
Jimmie V
2021-06-23 10:28:15 +0000 UTC@I like cheese... I actually paid to have a new patreon reactor check out the twin peaks pilot and she just uploaded her reaction a few days ago and says she likes it enough to at least check out the first season. 2021-06-23 06:32:42 +0000 UTCWe would love to! We wish we could do even more, but TV shows are a huge time commitment depending on the length of the series, but hoping to continue twice per week! I haven't seen the first few seasons of GOT, but I did watch the last few with TBR Schmitt. He has seen them all. We have both seen Breaking Bad! I have not seen the Karate Kid movies, but I believe TBR Schmitt has! Neither of us have watched Cobra Kai. Neither of us have seen The Sopranos, The Wire or Westworld! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
2021-06-23 02:38:57 +0000 UTCYes, we will! We're compiling a list of maybe Sci-Fi for the next specialty poll! Thanks for the suggestion! I think this is a great idea :) -Sam

2021-06-23 02:34:52 +0000 UTCThank you, Mitchell! Goodfellas is coming this week (Full Length is up), Citizen Kane we have both seen and the rest I'll add to the list! -Sam

2021-06-23 02:25:14 +0000 UTCIβd also love you guys to do more tv shows, but not sure what you have and havenβt seen already. Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, the karate kid movies followed by Cobra Kai, The Sopranos, The Wire, Westworld, any of that would be super fun!
Jeremy Garner
2021-06-22 20:35:49 +0000 UTCAwesome! I was one of the ones saying how MD would never win against bigger films so thanks for listening even if it ends up losing. I hope you guys continue to do this occasionally so you can catch some more obscure stuff and we can watch along.
Jimmie V
2021-06-22 20:27:42 +0000 UTCLeaving Las Vegas (1995) would make for quite a reaction as well.
Uncle 'Traveling' Matt
2021-06-22 15:19:25 +0000 UTCFrequency isn't quite a drama (more thriller) but that would be my suggestion for a non-blockbuster to react to. So far, there's only two reactions to this hidden gem on YouTube. It's got that classic heart like lot of the 90's/early 00's movies have. The father/son bond that Jim Caviezel and Dennis Quaid's characters build in this movie is really strong and it sets up a really neat pseudo-time travel plot.

2021-06-22 11:51:36 +0000 UTCI have to say, I much prefer movies that both of you haven't seen. Accordingly, I'm all for Mulholland Drive this time. It's easily my favourite David Lynch film (although Twin Peaks, the original season, is on a planet of its own.)
Uncle 'Traveling' Matt
2021-06-22 08:12:46 +0000 UTCMore dramas for future consideration: Goodfellas (1990), Citizen Kane (1941), Rear Window (1954), Sunset Boulevard (1950), Chinatown (1974), Taxi Driver (1976), L.A. Confidential (1997), Once Upon a Time in the West (1969)
Mitchell Smilie
2021-06-22 06:44:07 +0000 UTCThere is a great Paul Verhoeven drama called BASIC INSTINCT (1992).
Mr. Writhms
2021-06-22 05:31:28 +0000 UTCHave you guys seen Stand by Me (1986)? That could be a good one for future polls.
Uncle 'Traveling' Matt
2021-06-22 04:45:01 +0000 UTCHi Sam, have you seen Lean On Me? Great movie about a real life principal of a run down public school and his determination and spirit to not give up. Morgan Freemanβs performance was as good as his performance in Shawshank Redemption. Love to see you add this to future polls if neither of you have seen this one. It will tug At your heartstrings also. Thanks for all yours and TBRβs efforts to keep us entertained!

2021-06-22 04:03:33 +0000 UTCI highly recommend both Dances With Wolves and October Sky for future drama/general movie polls! Fantastic films.

2021-06-22 03:56:49 +0000 UTCGuys, can we add the 1985 movie Mask to future polls. Itβs an amazing movie based on an amazing kid that had a physical condition and persevered as much as he and his family could. Cher was nominated for an Oscar and this movie is a pull at your heartstrings movie. Love to see you guys react to this flick.
