*Randolph Scott: famous for portraying a cowboy of 96 movies in the late 40s to early 50s. The shoutout was an homage to Scott. Some other Mel Brooks comedies which don't seem to be on any of your lists: The Producers (1967) also with Wilder, Spaceballs, History of the World, Part I, and High Anxiety. Gene Wilder: One of my favorite Gene Wilder comedies is Stir Crazy (1980) with Richard Pryor. Mel Brooks: While he didn't direct, he produced a handful of dramatic movies including one of my very favorites: The Elephant Man directed by David Lynch. (Brooks was an uncredited Exec. Producer.)
