Sometimes these things happen in pro wrestling.

Before Drew McIntyre was off of WWE TV, he and his frienemy Sheamus competed both with and against one another. Their hard-hitting styles drew the praise of many WWE fans, and the two teamed up semi-regularly. Sheamus had already been involved in a trio with Ridge Holland and Butch called “the Brawling Brutes.” However, when Sheamus and Drew McIntyre were teaming, they were affectionately known as “The Banger Bros.”

The reason this is topical, is Sheamus brought up the name on the Pat McAfee show in the last week.

Well, if you’re subscribing to Fightful Select, you probably know that’s a reference to popular porn site, “Bang Bros.” However, not all of the WWE higher ups knew this. Despite that, we’re told that there were pitches from Drew himself for light hearted skits that included the two poking fun at the porn series. There was one that McIntyre pitched himself where Sheamus and Drew picked up the rest of the Brawling Brutes who were having car issues, then when they were all in the van (....like the Bang Bus), a disagreement would ensue, a fight would break out, and the Brutes would be kicked off of the bus (.....like the Bang Bus).

The name was immediately nixed after the pitch, and references were not to be made again.

UPDATE: I've since been told it was actually ALPHA ACADEMY, and they'd get kicked off the bus with Maxxine remaining on.
