Matt Cardona has become the benchmark for "what you're supposed to do" as a released talent but people neglect to mention that 1) He found his success in a very different time for the industry, and one where the independent circuit was a much more reliable stream of revenue. 2) His path is one that requires 99th percentile force of will, self confidence, natural talent and a substantial reservoir of prior experience in getting yourself over. If people decide they're not fit to pursue that path, let us not judge them but instead support them from a place of genuine solidarity and not as dispassionate consumers of their work.
