Back in 2020, Kenny Omega faced Alan Angels in a very competitive match. There was quite a bit of bru-haha and outrage on how competitive the match was. What were your feelings about Kenny having a competitive match vs a lesser known competitor? Did you feel that reaction was justified?
I didn't mind it at all. It was a six minute match on a very underwhelming episode of Dynamite. I grew up seeing Buddy Landel getting a WWF Title match against Bret Hart on Mania in a four minute match. I saw nothing wrong with it.
Is WWE planning to buy TNA?
I put this in an opinion piece because it's my view. Unless WWE has a monetization strategy for TNA's library -- aka TNA Vault Youtube, I don't see why they would buy TNA. They already get to use TNA talent whenever they want at a fraction of the salary, then sign up anyone they want when their deals are done. They already get things like Evolve and LFG TV deals that TNA hasn't been able to get. TNA rents a lot of their equipment, so you're not getting that. Beyond that, Endeavor has never been in "library acquisition mode." All the companies and libraries purchased by UFC and WWE were before TKO. Also, this wouldn't look good for the antitrust allegations. Working with TNA looks good for them, though!
Just in the past couple weeks I've heard a lot of talk about WWE struggling creatively while AEW is on the rebound. What do you think accounts for the change?
Every booker and promoter goes through peaks and valleys. For a while, AEW got away from what made them different, and the appetite for a decent alternative wasn't there as much with WWE being good themselves. WWE are now in a position where people are getting frustrated that affording to go to an event is an impossibility for many, and the criticism seems to be flowing more freely. The tides will likely constantly shift and the criticisms and acceptances get louder.
From a WWE standpoint, I would like to see them put more stock into wins and losses. It's the crux of everything. Anyone who claims it doesn't matter is being insincere or lazy.

Nobody gets peacock for WCW and ECW shows. They already owned them when they made the deal with NBC. I think he's referring to spending additional money on something that won't generate any significant additional income.

2025-04-05 00:41:09 +0000 UTCWwe booking is extremely lame and its been there for quite a while. Cant say that aew booking rebounding tbh, seems like they might eventually turn into niche promotion as they recently doing like the biggest percentage of bloody matches than ever. And those are bloody in most cases without rivals being that heated, especially when it comes to Mox matches but assume Mox doing what Mox want and just has fun

2025-04-04 21:58:28 +0000 UTCWCW and ECW's libraries are streaming on Peacock. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

2025-04-04 21:40:53 +0000 UTCHappy to see a very honest description of the TNA-WWE setup. I'm sad to see it, as TNA seems like it is now even more doomed to not retain their high level talent if WWE wants them, and the new head booker, Delirious, often had these same issues during his time running ROH, where he'd use too many partner wrestlers and not renew talent quickly.

2025-04-04 19:05:37 +0000 UTCsorry to say, but if companies aren't paying to get WCW or ECW's libraries on their streaming services, the same would go for TNA if it was purchased by WWE.

2025-04-04 19:04:27 +0000 UTCno cable or streamers care about these catalogues, its why WWE is putting channels worth of stuff on YouTube. I agree with Sean, They would try to monetize it through YouTube, but what would you be willing to pay if that is your use for it. I would bet, They would be more willing to underwrite TNA with a monthly payment just to have them their to get matches for their unused talent and as others have pointed out, try to nudge AEW out of as many worldwide tv and streaming deals they can.

2025-04-04 18:19:56 +0000 UTCAs a TNA+ subscriber, that library is extremely large going back all the way to the weekly PPV days in 2002 and I would imagine a valuable property to have. I could picture WWE buying them at some point just for that alone.
