However, one match that appeared to be a forgone conclusion was actually never planned.
A reader asked us about the video of Kenny Omega and Hiroshi Tanahashi last year that NJPW released and why it didn't go anywhere.
Omega visited Japan ahead of his return and reunited with Hiroshi Tanahashi. Shortly after, a video released indicating that the two could end up teaming at Wrestle Dynasty in Japan. However, we’re told that creative had not been broached within AEW before that.
Sources within New Japan Pro Wrestling claimed that there was never a real plan for Omega and Tanahashi to team or face each other as of the time that their video was filmed and it just happened to be edited in a way that would hype things up.
