Jacob Fatu’s appearances and interactions have been carefully crafted since virtually the start of his WWE run, Fightful Select was told. From Fatu’s Summerslam “injury,” to certain interactions between there and Bad Blood, WWE was very aware of how much of the audience views Fatu in comparison to other members of the Bloodline and had been intentionally playing that up. Fatu being forced to give up the tag team title was also a part of that build that we're seeing play out now. We have not been specifically told that Solo vs. Jacob is happening at Mania.
In addition, we’re told that the face offs with Roman Reigns are not an accident, and creative, higher ups, and others are expecting him to be a top talent for years to come emerging from the Bloodline story. The previous regime had passed on getting Fatu in years past, but the company under the present regime jumped on Fatu when he became available much sooner.
We’re also told that Fatu was credited for getting in the best shape he’s been in year before debuting on screen for WWE.
