PW Ceasefire III Backstage Notes
PW Ceasefire held their third event in aid of the Palestinian people in Gaza on February 20th, Corey Brennan learned some news.
- Referee Chris Hatch was widely praised, and those we spoke to were grateful he stepped in at the last minute.
- Kanji vs Jordon Breaks was called completely on the fly as both competitors arrived at the venue shortly before doors opened, and they had no agent for their match.
- The event was the first PW Ceasefire show without Beau Belles who is still recovering from elective surgery, but we are told she was still involved in the planning of the show.
- Tom Scarborough was not present at the show and is currently not scheduled to be at PWC IV on 22nd May or the Forbidden Door Weekend event on 21st August.
- A future show in Bristol is expected to be announced shortly.
- WrestleForce provided the ring hire and donated 50% of tickets sold for their next show to the total raised.
- The Kanji and Jordon Breaks vs Diamond Eyes match is expected to headline PWC IV.
- PWC Co-Founder Giovanni Giorgio will be absent from PWC IV as he will be in Japan with Pro Wrestling NOAH, the show is expected to be led by Beau Belles and Charlie Jamison in the meantime.
Peter Tihanyi Update
We have learned some background details on Peter Tihanyi’s injury.
On February 13th, wXw announced that their Undisputed World Champion Peter Tihanyi would be forced to vacate his championship after undergoing an MRI on a shoulder injury he recently suffered.
Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan has learned from wXw sources that the injury turned out to be worse than the company had hoped prior to Peter’s MRI, but the situation remains a fluid one, as more tests will have to be done to establish next steps and a timetable for Tihanyi’s recovery. In asking further, we were able to rule out a torn rotator cuff as the shoulder injury he suffered.
We are told that vacating the title was described as a ‘last resort’ due to the injury being not as short term as initially hoped, and the decision was made to err on the side of caution. When asking about the creative surrounding the vacation, we were told that it is an ongoing process in the promotion.
As of this writing, there is no timetable for Tihanyi’s return, but those we spoke to remain hopeful it will not be a long time on the shelf for the wXw name.
