What we've heard about Drew McIntyre
Added 2025-02-02 23:37:40 +0000 UTCDrew McIntyre was unhappy following the Royal Rumble, and there are still some question marks as to why.
PWInsider had reported Saturday night that Drew McIntyre stormed through the Gorilla position and was vocally unhappy about things, though the specifics were not clear. Fightful has been able to confirm this did occur as PWInsider described it, and nobody was "in on it."
Specifically McIntyre was cursing about someone "having to get their moves in." A number of other talent have reached out to say they agreed with McIntyre, and indicated the frustration was on LA Knight. Originally Priest was to eliminate Drew McIntyre before Logan Paul's entrance.
McIntyre had been eliminated by Damian Priest, which was to help start a storyline between the two for the Smackdown brand heading into WrestleMania season.
WWE held an after party for the Royal Rumble, which McIntyre didn't appear at.
McIntyre has had similar situations, as he was legitimately unhappy initially regarding CM Punk's return, though the two would go on to work with each other.
Comments
The fact that both this story and Dave Meltzer's reporting say others agreed with Drew seem to indicate that there is more to the story. Whoever he is talking about behaved in a way that irritated others in the match. Dave: “There’s a guy that a lot of people were pissed at in that match with the idea that he was trying to get himself over and not the match over,”

2025-02-03 23:40:06 +0000 UTCYeah, like if he was supposed to go for Logan Paul when he entered then he's not really to blame. I'm sure if it is LA Night then there must be more to this story than that.

2025-02-03 19:15:39 +0000 UTCI literally said the same thing, lol.

2025-02-03 15:03:08 +0000 UTCBut, according to the post McIntyre shouldn’t have been in there when Logan Paul was in there. Priest should’ve already eliminated him.
Shawn Hulver
2025-02-03 11:09:08 +0000 UTCBut the article says drew was supposed to be out before Logan came in. So it sounds like Drew missed the cue for his elimination.
Nick Mason
2025-02-03 09:44:18 +0000 UTCIt’s on Knight for attacking Logan, when Logan was supposed to be interacting with Drew & Damian.

2025-02-03 09:19:24 +0000 UTCKnight interfered with the spot that was planned between Logan / Drew / Damian.

2025-02-03 09:18:15 +0000 UTCIm not sure how that would be LA Nights fault. If priest was suppose to eliminate before Logan Paul came in I dont get how thats on LA Night?
Nick Mason
2025-02-03 07:56:48 +0000 UTCWhy is there more to this? Priest and Drew are being positioned as the top 2 on Smackdown long term... This feud is likely a chance for both to work for the chance to be number 1. So not quite as mid card as made out. Who might have a reason to "go into business for themselves" to get involved somehow on hearing about the plans as odd one out?... YEAH!
Rob Taylor
2025-02-03 07:29:15 +0000 UTCWait, I’m confused. Why would Drew be so pissed at LA if Priest was suppose to eliminate him before Logan Paul came out? If this is what happened, then wouldn’t Drew and Damien had missed their elimination spot?
Shawn Hulver
2025-02-03 06:40:54 +0000 UTCIt was LA Knight. Meltzer alluded to Drew being mad at someone, but that he hadn’t noticed the issue when it happened. Alvarez speculated that Knight seemed to get in the way of the Logan/Drew/Damian elimination spot, and Meltzer complimented his perceptiveness.

2025-02-03 05:09:39 +0000 UTCCollin, don't you think the reason I mentioned that was because I read about it earlier today? I read that Drew was frustrated about working a mid card program for WrestleMania instead of something more significant. Whoever he was upset with in the Royal Rumble Match just gave him something else to be upset about.

2025-02-03 04:55:12 +0000 UTCLanguage like this is usually used to devalue or dismiss someone’s legitimate frustrations.

2025-02-03 03:32:00 +0000 UTCIt was eluded to being LA Knight, but he and Drew have known each other for a long time, so it would be weird for him to storm off rather than talking to him about it

2025-02-03 03:27:38 +0000 UTCIf this isn’t something related to a storyline Drew is developing somewhat of. Rep for throwing temper tantrums, obviously just my opinion though

2025-02-03 01:00:24 +0000 UTCGiven the way Braun reacted to Cena not waiting til he was ready to catch Finn and his reaction to missing Finn I was actually suspecting Cena but there's no way it was him.

2025-02-03 00:42:42 +0000 UTCI always wonder with Drew if there’s a simmering resentment for him continually getting passed over. I couldn’t blame him if he had a sense of being owed more. Based off the work he did in the Punk feud, you’d figure he would be a fixture at the top and now it looks like his stock in the hierarchy has taken a drop.

2025-02-03 00:16:16 +0000 UTCIf it's not Paul, it's gotta be Knight. They were the two who made Drew's elimination look off. I had assumed it was Paul gloating and showboating that caused a delay in Knight attacking to clear the area for Priest/Drew but I guess not.

2025-02-03 00:14:19 +0000 UTCIt seemed like everyone got about 20-30 seconds once they got in to “get their shit in” then became part of the match. But it was like everyone. Quick heat up then blend in.

2025-02-02 23:54:44 +0000 UTCWWE and AEW just simply do not have enough spots, guys/girls NEED to jump back and forth. I'm seeing he was angry because of his Mania position and etc., guys need to leave. Same with AEW. Both places have stories like this coming out every now and then.

2025-02-02 23:46:52 +0000 UTCThe Daily Mail article said Drew was annoyed at someone who, to quote the article, “tried to take centre stage when McIntyre's elimination was due to take place.” Watching his elimination back, I think it might have been LA Knight.

2025-02-02 23:46:36 +0000 UTCThat's that "I've gotta get my shit in, brother." Drew, that I know of, isn't one to bitch about NOTHING irl. I don't know anything, but I would wager that A) This isn't the first time that person's done it and/or B) Whatever happened was unplanned. Again, idk shit though. And that's as far as I'm willing to speculate.

2025-02-02 23:46:03 +0000 UTCDid he tell you that he was unhappy about being in a mid card program? Weird to assume
Collin Ingram
2025-02-02 23:45:33 +0000 UTCWWE needs to be a better job of avoiding situations like this in the future. It's clear Drew was already frustrated when he found out he would be in a mid-card program for WrestleMania. Whatever happened in the Royal Rumble just gave him another reason to be upset. Making sure your top talent is happy should always be a top priority.

kayjay Hooper
2025-02-02 23:43:40 +0000 UTCIt’s likely LA Knight, he started attacking Paul in the middle of the ring when McIntyre was trying to eliminate Jey and Priest ran into him when he was going to put Drew out
