Select Answers: Ruby Soho, AEW Women, Kingdom

Welcome to Select Answers, a short feature that provides some of the answers to questions that were posed to Sean Ross Sapp in the most recent Fightful Weekly Q&A Podcast. The show drops every week on Fightful Select for subscribers.

Hi Sean, Any idea what's going on with the Kingdom (Taven/Bennett)? They have been included in the UK on AEW or ROH TV lately. Are they still with AEW?

They're still technically on the roster, but I haven't heard of them at TV lately. I know they originally weren't planned for the initial Undisputed Era reunion and haven't been seen much since.

How's Ruby Soho doing? Is she ready to come back in the ring or is she in maternity leave still?

She only gave birth a few months ago, so she's still on maternity leave. There were originally more expansive plans for the creative of she and Angelo Parker, but life happens, and in a good way here.

I apologize if this has been addressed already, but is there a reason that more women haven't been featured more on AEW recently? Such as Deonna Purrazzo, Thunder Rosa, Shida, and Kamille? Seems like they would have been a layup addition to the women's gauntlet match.

Hikaru Shida hasn't been at AEW TV of late. I can't speak to why.

Thunder Rosa just finished an AEW World Title program and put over Mariah May.

I thought there would be a follow up to Kamille quitting on Mercedes, but it was just dropped with no payoff, which doesn't benefit anyone, she's healthy.

Deonna Purrazzo has been very vocal to management about wanting to be utilized more and better. Especially around the Full Gear show in her hometown.

I will say, the women's gauntlet was still loaded.

I’m not really into women’s wrestling so I’m good with lack of them. See enough on wwe programming

Hi Sean, any update on Asuka or Carmella’s return?

Ring the Belle

They have ROH and at this point it would be nice if they just put the women there and made it a real damn show.

All *anything* shows are never good for business. Cruiserweights, Women, etc. Anything that is potentially completely uninteresting to part of your established fan base is leaving money in the table. Having a whole show dedicated to women isn't going to magically fix the lack of priority put on writing interesting stories and having good booking for women. It's like being bad at running and deciding that instead of training for a 5K you should just start running marathons.

The women that should be the focal point of the women's division are Mercedes, Mariah, Toni, Kris, Willow, and Jamie. They gave a lot a women opportunities last year. Deonna was given a lot, Rosa was given a lot, Anna Jay, Britt. The only one that didn't really get any programs was Shida.

With how stacked the womens roster is, it shouldnt be this many people on the sideline. It would be nice if AEW does get a 3rd show, turn it into an all womens show. Deonna was brought it in as a big deal last year and after that Thunder Rosa feud they havent done much of anything.
