AEW Fight Size: Full Gear, Costco Guys, Women's Match
Added 2024-11-22 04:47:53 +0000 UTCWe're told to expect another women's match announcement for AEW Full Gear, likely featuring Deonna Purrazzo as she's local to the area. She's expected to face Anna Jay. Purrazzo hasn't wrestled since September 6, but has not been injured.
The plan is to have the Costco Guys in the middle of Zero Hour to hopefully retain fans with a good follow up match on AEW Full Gear.
We had several inquiries regarding Richard Holliday after his AEW appearance, he’s fine after he was checked on by the medic.
Tony Khan noted to media today he isn’t expecting to tape Collision with Dynamite too often. He stated that it's on the schedule that way because of the upcoming Australia show.
We’re told at least one of the tag team title contender matches had a winner that was changed last week. We’re working to confirm which it was.
QT Marshall Notes:
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful sat down with AEW’s QT Marshall. Marshall shared insights into his roles within AEW, his wrestling career, and numerous other topics.Sean mentions to QT Marshall that he’s unsure how to explain QT’s title within AEW, someone who has worn many hats in AEW, and QT jokingly calls himself a "jack of all trades, master of none.”
QT says he didn't know what he would write if he had to write down his job title. He says to work behind the scenes or step into the ring; his approach is to do whatever needs to be done.
QT spoke about his return to AEW, which has seen him wrestle in dark matches, often alongside his students, to warm up the crowd and develop talent. One standout event occurred in Salt Lake City, where wrestler Manny Lemons helped sell tickets.
QT relished the opportunity to lean into the role of the heel. “The fans just don’t like me for whatever reason, but I’m okay with it. I lean into it,” he shared. He credits wrestling as an outlet for frustration, allowing fans to project their grievances onto him, which he gladly absorbs in character.
The role as a heel didn’t come without challenges. Much of the criticism stemmed from his connection with Cody Rhodes, with fans assuming that QT’s opportunities were related to their friendship. Rather than denying these rumors, QT embraced them. “If that’s what you want to believe, I’m all for it,” he said.
Despite being cast as a villain, QT has shown his versatility. In two dark matches, he performed as a babyface. However, his comfort zone remains as the heel. “I know my lane. I’m good at it. I enjoy it,” he said. Wrestling, for QT, is not just about entertaining; it’s a release, a way to connect with audiences.
Sean mentioned QT’s history with Ring of Honor (ROH) and noted that on November 3, 2012, QT faced a young Adam Page. QT shared a behind-the-scenes story about that match, and he said that Page accidentally broke his nose.
Despite the injury, the moment was overshadowed by Jim Cornette’s firing from ROH on the same day. Reflecting on his time in ROH, QT admitted that it wasn’t his style initially. However, after he began teaming with RD Evans, he enjoyed it.
QT mentions that Evans works backstage at AEW. Describing RD as a creative and valuable asset, QT highlights how Evans has contributed to promos and backstage work and believes that Tony Khan has taken a liking to Evans.
Sean mentions that QT Marshall has a history with former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest (formerly Punishment Martinez). QT noted Priest’s transformation as a testament to hard work and self-belief. QT’s connection to Priest and Rhodes led to witnessing his friends become world champions on the same night at WrestleMania 40.
Sean would ask how he got involved with AJ of the Costco Guys. He says it brings a fresh audience to AEW while carefully guiding the balance between mainstream appeal and wrestling content. QT talks about keeping much of the buildup on social platforms; Marshall ensured that the collaboration didn’t overshadow AEW’s established narrative while still generating buzz.
He says this leads to their Zero Hour match at Full Gear. QT notes that free access for the Costco Guys’ fans will help draw more people in. QT said that as AEW Full Gear approaches, fans can expect Marshall’s match to deliver entertainment and a nod to wrestling’s rich history.
The two would discuss the diss track and how it achieved over three million views, which helped promote AEW’s Full Gear, especially for those who might not traditionally follow wrestling. QT says, "At the end of the day, we’re putting on a TV show. If they don’t understand the inner workings of the wrestling industry, that’s fine." QT said getting Tony to sign off on it was a little hard initially, but eventually, he understood.
QT says getting The Costco Guys was great for AEW. He would explain further, “This is the greatest marketing we could possibly ask for, especially to a new audience instead of continuously promoting to the same exact audience that we already had.”

Glad to see Deonna might be getting a match. Ridiculous that it’s taking this long to get a 2nd women’s wrestling match on this card.

2024-11-22 22:29:01 +0000 UTCI'd been encouraging people around him to keep the answers shorter and more noteworthy. Hopefully those cries were heard

2024-11-22 19:31:46 +0000 UTCTony's media call was probably the best one in a while. A bit bummed he wants to keep Dynamite and Collision tapings separate, I feel they should combine and tape, but that's just me. Maybe they have further plans like bringing back AEW Dark or something.

2024-11-22 05:03:52 +0000 UTCWas thinking the same on tag team... FTR being in this made too much sense given they're definitely turning heel on The Outrunners soon, weird they went with Acclaimed (again..)

2024-11-22 04:57:46 +0000 UTCPutting the Costco guys in the middle of the pre show is a smart move. Then give them one freev incredible match and then they makes people more down for wrestling. The tag team was probably the acclaimed.
