More details on NXT's abrupt finish in many areas
Added 2024-10-23 20:08:16 +0000 UTCAs this week’s edition of WWE NXT drew to a close, Zaria (formerly known as Delta) made her NXT debut. However, many did not see this moment as the show was cut from the air in some cases.
Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan has learned that NXT was scheduled to run up until 10pm EST exactly and signed off the air after much pre-planning from those on the brand to hit their mark.
Producers became aware that the Orlando CW affiliate feed was operating on a 20 second delay, and was many CW affiliate feeds that cut off the end of the program, after officials had previously confirmed with satellite providers that the show would stay on the air until 10pm.
Officials in NXT were said to be “very upset” with the show being cut early, with one NXT source noting that “everyone who runs or has a say in the show was pissed.”
Sources that Sean Ross Sapp spoke to said that these problems had been anticipated in the weeks leading up the the CW debut as they have hard outs to get off of the air. Previously, NXT had a lot more flexibility on the USA Network.

2024-10-23 21:59:42 +0000 UTCIf they don't get out when they are supposed too, they will get cut every time. Its a local affiliate thing. Most local stations (which is what CW is throwing too) have a hard timed out cue at 9:58:56, same as on Fox. This allows for a 1 minute end break and a 4 second station ID. Network "turns over" the airwaves to the local stations at that time. I'm not sure who they would have gotten approval to run up to 10pm from, because that out time is contracted with hundreds and hundreds of local stations.
