Sources would be "shocked" if AEW didn't try to bring in Samantha Irvin
Added 2024-10-21 19:16:37 +0000 UTCSamantha Irvin is finishing up with WWE, leaving a big gap in the ring announcer team for WWE.
Everyone that we spoke to in WWE had high praise for Samantha Irvin both before she made the announcement, and following when she thanked virtually everyone involved in WWE en route to her exit.
Many of the staff at WWE say they were surprised by the news, as she couldn't have possibly informed everyone before leaving. One noted her as a "presence that made the work day better." There were others close to her that claimed that they've known this was coming for a month.
When we immediately asked sources within AEW about the potential of them bringing her in, we didn't get answers before press time. Numerous sources we spoke to in WWE and AEW said that they would be shocked if an attempt wasn't made. Irvin's fiance Ricochet joined AEW in recent months.
Despite leaving some in the company surprised by today's announcement, there were many others we spoke to who expected her to make an exit after Ricochet did, noting the ease of schedule on their family. It's important to note that Samantha has not mentioned what her motivations for leaving were.
UPDATE: In an update, we're told Lilian Garcia is backstage at WWE Raw.

2024-10-22 17:33:55 +0000 UTCOh I'm not saying there's an issue with her leaving. I'm saying there wouldn't be such an emotional reaction to it if Vince was in charge because he would never allowed her to get that popular. He would have toned her down. I'm not saying its the right strategy.

If not, best of luck to her in whatever she chooses to do. I’m sure she’ll have plenty of opportunities in a lot of interesting places.

For example, he hated tag team wrestling, because you had to pay more guys when they were on the show. He didn't like mentioning ref names, backstage announcers or ring announcers. If Vince was running stuff, Samantha would of been told to tone it down.

2024-10-21 19:29:58 +0000 UTCThat’s an odd one, I would think it would be for an opportunity outside of wrestling, the ricochet factor I guess but WWE AEW schedules are not really different these days as there only really doing tv tapings barring a few house shows here and there, I can only guess if she wants to start a family and kids then her leaving makes sense
