Summerslam SCOOPS THREAD Part 2!

SummerSlam Backstage Notes

- We are told that Jacob Fatu was planned to sell his leg following his splash in the main event. We aren't told if it was to the extent we saw. He was in a walking boot after the show and the following morning.

- During Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk, the battery pack for Seth Rollins’ ref cam would fall off, with Rollins making the decision to abandon the camera after. We are told there was no heat on Seth as this was deemed a possibility beforehand.

- There was some discussion among talent about Shane McMahon meeting with Tony Khan. Most that we spoke to believe Shane will end up at least making an appearance there.

- Triple H told Fightful Stephanie McMahon will likely be around more often and is finding it easier to love wrestling again. Talent we heard from were happy to see her.

- The ref cam was first tested at the WWE Performance Center recently, and fine tuned before Saturday night. We are told that the concept will most likely be used for replays going forward.

- There were virtually no comments backstage on the amount of strong language on the show. When we followed up, we were just told things are looser in some regards for that.

- Cody Rhodes mentioned it, but there was a tip sheet sent to talent with headshots and bios of legends who would be attending to help educate some younger wrestlers. They were encouraged to pick their brains and treat the legends respectfully.

- Fightful has interviews with Baron Corbin and Jade Cargill that will drop over the coming weeks.

- As one would expect, Roman Reigns was kept under wraps throughout the show until it was time for him to make his appearance.

- While Rhea Ripley’s shoulder injury spots were planned, Logan Paul’s nasty landing off an LA Knight superplex was not. Paul was said to be ok following the spot.

- Sean Ross Sapp asked about Rick Steiner being featured on WWE socials again after transphobic comments were made by Steiner towards Gisele Shaw last year. WWE staff tell Fightful that Steiner had fallen out of the good graces of WWE after that, but admitted wrongdoing and said it wouldn't happen again. He was said to have offered an apology to Shaw, but we're not told if they've ever spoken since.

- SRS also asked about Rob Feinstein being in attendance and taking photos with WWE talent. We were told WWE has no affiliation with Feinstein, did not invite him to the show, he was not backstage, and was not comped a ticket under his name. Feinstein found out where the talent hotel was and approached wrestlers for photos.

- In regards to Logan Paul and his comments on Imane Khelif, things have been quiet on that front outside of us being told that his views do not reflect that of WWE.

- Word that Knight could win picked up internally after Logan Paul's controversial comments this week.

Comments

And it had been obvious since Mania that Knight was the guy to beat him

I truly believe Logan was always losing regardless of what he said this week. It was time for title to be on someone who is there every week.

Was really hoping for the “Jacob Fatu is really good at his job”
