We now know who will challenge for the Progress Women’s World Title at this weekend’s The Devil In My Shoulder event.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Emersyn Jane was out of her world title match with Rhio at the event due to injury. Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan has learned that Emerson Jayne suffered an ankle injury at North Wrestling’s Thunderstruck 2 event, and after monitoring the injury, Progress decided to look elsewhere for an opponent for Rhio, with the decision on her opponent being made this week.

Sources within Progress tell Brennan that the replacement opponent for Sunday will be Australian women’s talent Lena Kross, who has recently returned from a tour of Japan with tag team partner Nina Samuels. Samuels has been a long time rival of Rhio’s, and teamed with Kross in Japanese promotion Sendai Girls. We are also told that there were several replacements considered for the event.

However, not only will Rhio have a new opponent at the event, but she will also be receiving a new championship title, as a new belt has been created for the Progress Women’s World Championship. Brennan has been told by sources in Progress that the previous iteration of the title’s end point was decided for Super Strong Style 16 weekend, and the new title is being created for symmetry purposes with the men’s and tag team title belts also undergoing recent minor changes.
