Former World Heavyweight Champ's contract expected to expire
Added 2024-05-20 19:10:03 +0000 UTCA former world champion's contract is expected to expire soon.
Fightful Select's Sean Rosss Sapp is told that Mark Henry's AEW contract is expected to expire this month. The WWE Hall of Famer signed with AEW in 2021 and debuted at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view on May 30. He has worked as an analyst, coach, scout and mentor during his time with the company. Henry's on-screen role has mostly been as an interviewer/personality on AEW Rampage.
Henry is also a regular on Busted Open Radio.
The former World Heavyweight Champion has not wrestled since WWE Greatest Royal Rumble 2018, and he has not had a singles match since February 2017. Henry has teased returning to the ring for one last match, but he has said that he doesn't know what it would take to make it happen.

2024-05-20 23:37:01 +0000 UTCHe's been in the industry a long time, experienced, he's very well respected - from both young talent and veterans, he's been on record for wanting a position like this, has no allegiances to anyone, only being fair. I feel he would be a strong neutral party to be in such a role. Nobody has ever said a negative word about Mark Henry. He's highly professional.

2024-05-20 22:49:06 +0000 UTCNah nah we are not ignoring “ITS TIME FOR THE MAIN EVENT!”

2024-05-20 22:36:03 +0000 UTCAgreed - the shows had a different identity - I feel the show are lacking that right now. They all blend together now. Even the sets are the same now. I really miss the beginning of Collision when they had would have the main event teams give a quick verbal promo then start the show.

2024-05-20 22:24:40 +0000 UTCNot seeing anything about him actually being involved with the India deal other than tweeting that aew should have more Indian fans. It’s not his fault that Jade left but it is his fault that the only distinguishable contribution he made was signing someone that was criticized for being too green for her spot for most of her run in aew and immediately jumped ship to wwe when she was able to. Who has he actually scouted? Who has he actually helped? What is something of note that he has actually done in the last two years other than say “it’s time…for the main event” (which is tacky and lame)

2024-05-20 20:24:34 +0000 UTCThat's a weird Mindset to have. Not everyone needs to be at WWE. They already have an excess of backstage talent

2024-05-20 20:17:26 +0000 UTCHelped get them a TV deal in India. I also don't think the Jade scouting is a black mark against him. Not his fault Jade left

2024-05-20 20:16:27 +0000 UTCDo we know any specific actual contributions he had? The only things I remember hearing about is him helping sign Jade (womp womp) and him and Lio Rush making peace (before Lio was pushed out of the company). Has he actually been helping anyone of note?

2024-05-20 19:37:40 +0000 UTCI get why he was signed, but I'm not sure if it worked out how it was hoped. Things started getting weird when we stopped getting him in the dual screen pre-match interviews.

2024-05-20 19:18:15 +0000 UTCReally hope AEW gets him re-signed to an extension. Love hearing Mark on Busted Open. He has so much to share with the locker room. Honestly really feel he would be a major asset to the Talent Relations team.

2024-05-20 19:17:03 +0000 UTCI miss the split screen interviews he did on Rampage. They were a nice touch that gave the show more of an identity.

2024-05-20 19:16:42 +0000 UTCI always felt like he was a square peg in a round hole at AEW. I would think he has a job for life in WWE if he wanted it.

2024-05-20 19:16:12 +0000 UTCI would expect Mark to probably re-sign. WWE has coaches and trainers out the wazoo. There is more potential for giving back to the industry by helping AEW talent get those same benefits

2024-05-20 19:15:14 +0000 UTCIs he still attending the shows I have not even seen that he’s been there.
