CM Punk and Will Ospreay -- could they....CROSS THE LINE????

CM Punk…..and IMPACT? It seemed as if a lot of people thought that there was a possibility that Punk could join the company at Bound For Glory, but clearly that didn’t happen.

Fightful reported recently that while it was clearly a longshot, IMPACT Wrestling and those associated with it were open to him coming in to the company. Punk appeared backstage months ago and made a good impression on many there, and got along with a number of people on the roster, seemingly enjoying his time there. As Haus of Wrestling reported, Punk was backstage on Sunday at IMPACT’s tapings, and was seen as very helpful

Ace Steel was brought into the company to work as a producer, which many saw as a sign that the company wanted to get to Punk. However, IMPACT had been interested in Steel when he’d been let go from AEW the first go around, when Punk wasn’t available.

A few weeks ago, those close to Punk claimed they didn’t think he’d want to join the company, but also said that if he woke up one day and just decided he wanted to wrestle Josh Alexander or Motor City Machine Guns, he likely could if he wanted to, with another person in touch with Punk saying he would under the right circumstances. A big hurdle on the surface and the outside looking in would be the salary, as Punk in AEW was annually making about 15-20 times what a lot of the top IMPACT wrestlers were making.

Speaking of TNA Wrestling and money, Will Ospreay had a very positive experience in Chicago this weekend at IMPACT Wrestling shows and noted that he wanted to come back before his NJPW deal is up in February. We’re told by several that Ospreay’s next contract will likely be heavily financially motivated and has realized this will be the most important deal of his career. Earlier this year he’d been keen on staying with NJPW, but he’s since opened up his options. He hired Barry Bloom in the Spring of this year, and AEW and WWE were aware of it by August.

Hey Sean I had a question in regards to TNA rebranding. Do you know if they will now begin or have they already began to look for a better tv network for their weekly show to air to help go with the positive feedback from fans?

Omar Alvarado

He got his own PPV propping him up for his "last" match.

Did Flair get off scot free? AEW was heavily rumored to be bringing him in prior to the episode airing and WWE hasn't brought him back since.

Doogie

Edge and wwe both said he had a wwe contact offered and he passed. And if you think after over a decade as a wwe top guy he left for money that means you either know him personally and he is bad with money or it wasn't really about the money.

"A big hurdle on the surface and the outside looking in would be the salary, as Punk in AEW was annually making about 15-20 times what a lot of the top IMPACT wrestlers were making." So we're talking $3-$5 million vs. $150,000 - $250,000 right? Semi-related...WWE declined the option on Edge, right? Khan paid more and Edge gets to work with Christian.

Hard to Kill 2024 - CM Punk vs Bobby Fish “Where’s the lie?” vs “Tell me when I’m telling lies”

This is a Hulk Hogan/CM Punk joke, Im sorry dhdhdnd

NJPW contracts run through February so they can write out people who leave post-WK. It would be a huge upset if Ospreay ends up anywhere but NJPW or AEW.

WOAH!!! We have the AEW accountant in the comment section! Who else does TK overpay?

"Overpays" -- based on what?

Fightful Select

Osperay is going to AEW because Tony Khan overpays everyone. That's where he'll make the most money. As for Punk...If he ends up in TNA it'll be because he wants to wrestle there. Could they afford to pay him 10% of what he was making in AEW? Maybe strike a deal where Punk gets a huge percentage of Merch / PPV buys? I just don't see the dude going anywhere besides WWE, mostly because that would be the biggest splash.

I'm starting to notice a trend of iMPACT hiring people that are either problematic(Ace Steel, Michael Elgin) or did something super stupid and got ostracized for it and rightfully so(Santino Marella when he booked Scurll for a show, Tommy Dreamer got rehired not long after getting fired[going by Wikipedia, mind you] over the Plane Ride from Hell DSOTR episode[though I'm hopeful Tommy learned from that majorly and I'm still confused that Flair got off scot free for the most part when the episode was about him being a sex pest to a stewardess). Getting a bit concerned that they actually ARE desperate to sign people even though they're doing fine financially and in terms of ratings and attendance.

CSDX

Imapct being able to score some really top tier free agents would be amazing for wrestling

😆 🤣 twitter gonna be crazy when crybaby Phil don't show up at Survivor Series

Alexander Fitzgerald

Never a boring day when these two are making headlines

So if you had to put a percentage on it(I had to), what percentage would you give Will and/or Punk joining AEW, WWE, or TNA?

Joel Wood

All I'm saying is, January 4th is on a Thursday again in 2024.
