More on Jade Cargill's AEW Departure, WWE Update

Jade Cargill has finished up with AEW and is likely headed to WWE. We’ve learned some more about her departure and what's going on now.

Those that we spoke to around the situation on all sides – WWE, AEW and those close to Cargill, implied that her deal with AEW would be up as of last Friday and she’d be eligible to go wherever she wanted. WWE sources have told us that Jade will be in Orlando this week at the WWE Performance Center. Sources claimed she isn't planned for tonight's Raw or tomorrow's NXT as of now, but is expected to sign with the company as of now. We're working to find out if this is for a private tryout, physicals, or if she's reporting to the Performance Center. Almost every wrestler that is brought in or returns is required to make a Performance Center trip.

WWE has long had interest, but some within WWE had heard of interest back in July, and several associated with her teased that “big moves could be coming,” though they didn’t outright say what those moves would be. There were several people close to her that were being coy about her future plans, not outright mentioning WWE, however, higher ups in AEW were aware of the plans to jump to WWE.

Those close to Cargill also said that she was treated well by AEW upon leaving, and there doesn’t seem to be ill will. She received a nice ovation backstage and spoke with numerous talent about wrapping up. It was said that it was important to AEW to give her an appropriate sendoff.

Jade Cargill is still listed on the AEW roster page.

Sources within WWE that we spoke to were speculating where Cargill would go as it pertains to the WWE main roster or NXT. We've not heard of any negative implications or impressions from WWE staff or the roster, and most have said that they've yet to hear anything bad about her.

Cargill would be the second signed AEW talent to make the jump to WWE, following Cody Rhodes, after the company lost numerous talent to AEW in past years.

Comments

Shop AEW has moved her into the alumni section and it looks like pulled all her merch except her action figure down

Jared

Good luck to her in WWE. Hourly they present her well, could be great to see her against Bianca and Charlotte

Raphael Soohoo

It's not a huge loss for AEW though? She is not a great wrestler. Here's hoping the PC can help

shelly Piper

So mania 40 will Brandi get to finish her story? 😉

Jonathan V Hedman

They let him go

Fightful Select

I would say technically maybe 3rd if you include Regal? Make no mistake, big loss for AEW. But this is a bigger gain for WWE than it is a loss for AEW. The potential for superstardom in the WWE-world is so much greater than the loss for the AEW women's division. AEW hasn't given the women a whole lot to work with and need to become dedicated to growing the division. Landing Mercedes Mone could be a bigger deal.

Does Pillman count?

ItsWildBoy

How about Brian Pullman Jr.?

Ralph Cody

I think Priscilla Kelly also made the jump from AEW to WWE

The Lane Family

Exactly!! Plus the reasons being thrown around for how she is gonna be a star in wwe is the material marks have used to shit on tk/aew ...I think she's gonna get a shock in wwe.. .she will still be successful but aew treated her real well and in her own words she doesn't like being treated like a number!! Aew will be fine they got the elite and that's who wwe really wanted!!! Facts

Wasn't Bea Priestley the 2nd AEW to WWE move?

This is what I enjoyed about wrestling back in the 90s. Seeing wrestlers jump ship to different companies was exciting. If Jade wants to eventually do movies down the line, then WWE is the perfect platform for her.

Alexander Fitzgerald

You AEW and WWE marks make me laugh. Wrestlers in the 90s were going to different companies(WCW, ECW, WWF) that's what made wrestling great. Chill out. Jade has said numerous times that she wants to be in movies, and this is the best platform to make that happen so good for her but to act like this is such a huge signing when fans have crapped on her for years saying she's green in the ring and boring then all of a sudden flip the switch to "WOW what a lost, TK screwed up" is hilarious.

Alexander Fitzgerald

She’s not great in the ring by any means but definitely showed growth. Much better in that final Statlander match. I think the slower more deliberate pace at WWE will suit her style.

I hope we can at least still get a “cut the shit” every now and again

Assblaster from Tremors 3 (Back to Perfection)

Jade is gonna be a star ✨ in the WWE

Kyle Pribila

TRANSFER PORTAL.

Assblaster from Tremors 3 (Back to Perfection)

Agreed. I am a big AEW fan but good for Jade. Wish her well and the door is always open for Jade, Cody etc to come back in the future. WWE-AEW talent changes isnt a bad thing it keeps talent more fresh. WCW-WWE it happened a lot and the sport was better for it. Good for talent as well as they can go where they want and have competition likely increasing their salaries.👍

Scott Newcomb

Why should he give someone a workd title who has ZERO business with a world title. AEW is a promotion based around actual wrestling ability, which is something Jade doesn't have.

Raymond Slover

This is what the industry should be. More options and more money for more talent. Really am enjoying seeing Cody in WWE and I hope to see Steen and Generico in AEW before everything is said and done. And a million other possible roster moves. Well wishes and hugs all the way around. A rising tide lifts all boats.

julian

BPJ hasn’t been officially announced as of yet

Lawrence Robinson

I think it's funny that all these people are acting like this is the greatest thing ever for WWE, but have been doing nothing but taking shit about her for the past few years. She'll fit right in with WWE, she has a look but is dog shit in the ring.

Raymond Slover

I think AEW to WWE moves are going to be pretty common from this point on. Back-forth activity of free agents is a good thing and the sign of a healthy ecosphere. We haven't seen much of it yet due to the relative youth of the company and lots of people on 3-4 year deals but I'd be amazed if there weren't a few more high profile transfers over the next year. Jade's a good acquisition for WWE and will suit their style better.

David C

Wouldn't she be the third AEW-to-WWE move since Brian Pillman Jr. went over as well?

Justin Reid

I'm a big Cody fan but you got to imagine he had something to do with this

Matty Nice

I repeatedly state I think she’ll be a better fit for WWE and I think for what her ambitions are, they’ll be a better fit for her too. Key here is how AEW handle a departing wrestler - because this sounds like a very pleasant exit and given how it works the other way often times, it’s good that wrestlers can see it’s personable in this way.

David Pick

This is exciting.

thankyoubrother

She has wwe written all over her. Big pickup

AknowledgeMe

Tony Khan screwed up big time letting Jade go. I’m happy for her and will continue following her career bc I’m a big fan but I’ll never forgive Tony for not pushing her to the AEW women’s title sooner.
