Steve Maclin talks IMPACT return, IMPACT 1000, More

Fightful Select caught up with former IMPACT World Champion Steve Maclin for an exclusive interview before IMPACT Wrestling’s Victory Road PPV. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp spoke with Steve on various topics.

Maclin told us he’s feeling healthy and said he suffered his groin injury in Australia. Maclin says Wrestlers can work hurt, but injured is a different style. Maclin said he was still working out while out of action.

Maclin talked to us about the return of Eric Young and said that this is another person he latches on for advice and wants to work with. Maclin is excited to work in a program with Josh Alexander. Maclin feels he and Alexander are the top names in the men’s division of the company. He brought up Deonna Purazzo and Jordynne Grace regarding the Women’s side.

Maclin said he is excited about IMPACT 1000. When the name D-Von Dudley came up, Maclin said he was emulating The Hardy Boys, Dudley Boys, Edge, and Christian’s moves when he was a kid.

Sean told Maclin that Joel Pearl and Jeremy Lambert would interview Alex Shelley on Fightul’s In the Weeds podcast. When asked if there was a question that he would like to ask Shelley, Maclin responded by saying, “When do I get my rematch?”

Regarding his return from injury, Maclin says IMPACT and himself wanted to let everyone know he was coming back instead of not announcing it.

Steve spoke about how he enjoys working Revolver Wrestling dates. He says he likes doing the shows that Sami Callihan runs in Iowa.

Sean’s last question to Steve was if there is one person he could bring in to work against at IMPACT Wrestling, who would it be?  Maclin, without hesitation, said it would be AJ Styles. Maclin says AJ is even better now and was the face of IMPACT, and that is the person that he would want to bring in.
