Absent AEW Star Actually Re-Signed In The Last Year

Anthony Ogogo will still be in AEW for quite some time.

The 34-year old Ogogo hasn’t wrestled in general since November 2022, and in AEW since August 2022, but as best we’ve heard there haven’t been creative plans set for him. But he isn’t going anywhere, well other than London.

With Ogogo’s extended absence, Fightful inquired about his status with AEW. Ogogo is healthy and available to wrestle, on the AEW roster page and still under a full-time deal. In fact, we’re told that around the end of 2022 or start of 2023, Ogogo actually signed a two-year contract extension that would keep him with AEW until the start of 2025 at least.

Ogogo is in London to do media for this week's AEW All In.

Maybe just seems odd.

In all seriousness they can't be paying him that much. Plus he's like 80% blind in one eye, so maybe Tony feels bad for him.

Raymond Slover

I think the only way to really make Agogo work right now is to put him with Blackpool Combat Club or The Callis Family as a bad-ass prizefighter. \

Adam Frazier

He should be working indies to get better if he’s serious about it.

thenumber9door

He's a huge name in the UK and still learning wrestling, AEW is the number one promotion in the UK so I'm assuming you keep him to help keep the lead there, Kinda like Jinder was champ to grow India and Satnam is always on AEW for the same reason

Matty Nice

Oh I gotcha. Damn that sucks.

It's related to him not being able to work outside the US.

Fightful Select

Yeah I've seen people speculate that's the issue but I don't think I've seen anyone confirm it.

From what I've heard, it's visa issues like with Rey Fenix. But those are just rumors.

John Horton

Why though? AEW doesnt use him for years and they signed him to an extension? Not understanding that.🤷🏻‍♂️

Scott Newcomb

Any news on why AR Fox was taken out of his match at All In?
