More On Mustafa Ali And Baron Corbin In NXT
Added 2023-06-06 19:00:02 +0000 UTCMustafa Ali and Baron Corbin appeared on NXT, and we’ve learned a little bit about that process.
WWE sources that Fightful Select spoke to said there were tentative plans in place quite a while ago for Baron Corbin and Mustafa Ali to both work NXT, one of the reasons that the free agent tag was put on them. That same source said “despite a lot of things from the previous regime that made that cynicism around the free agent tags understandable, there was more of a plan for them this time.”
There were several NXT talent who specifically had requested to work with Mustafa Ali, and word we got was that Ali was more than happy to oblige. The goal for these appearances is to add interest in NXT, help refresh Ali and Corbin, assess the talent they’ll be working with, and get experience for NXT talent with people who have worked main roster TV and style for quite a while.
We’ve been told that Ali and Corbin will continue working NXT, but that it isn’t a completely permanent move, and can still appear on Raw and Smackdown when needed.

I Really enjoyed seeing Ricochet The New Day & Johnny Gargano crossover in NXT as it led to fresh matches & given Gargano was the face of NXT for a few years it made me nostalgic. It’s good to know though was put in with the agent wrestlers in draft & TBH if WWE don’t have plans for someone on main roster you may as well let them have a run on NXT. Corbin can puts Hayes over & there are a lot of cool matches Ali can have on NXT against the likes of Breaker Hayes Gacy Bate Darr Frazer Wes Lee Dragonov Dragon Les & Dijax
