AEW, WBD, COLLISION News

AEW Collision is set to debut in mid-June, and will feature a huge name in CM Punk, but that's hardly it. We're told there are already major plans and a marquee match tentatively scheduled for the Collision show, with CM Punk pushing for a huge match early on in his return. There has been a Chris Jericho program discussed, but Punk had pushed for another return opponent out of the gate.

AEW Rampage, we're told, will become more resembling what WWF Heat once was. We're told that many indie talent will be more likely to get opportunities on Ring of Honor programming. The last we've heard, AEW content is set to be exclusively hosted on WBD platforms, with ROH seemingly not being a part of that. However, we have not necessarily heard that an entirely new deal has been reached for AEW programming as of yet.

Those that we’ve spoken to say that Collision on WBD in primetime is a part of a new cash infusion for AEW and an extension of the partnership the two sides have held. WBD sources have long spoken glowingly about the relationship with All Elite Wrestling, and the deal is planned for an announcement around the time of Warner Upfronts.

There was a lot of discussion and rumors both online and within WBD and AEW about this deal being a billion dollar deal over a few years and that could be true if all of their deals are extrapolated. However, WBD sources had indicated to us that Collision was the planned upcoming announcement, as opposed to an all-encompassing deal that included Dynamite. AEW and WBD sources have not confirmed a dollar figure.

The long and short of it is what we’ve been able to confirm is a good deal for AEW, an impending announcement of Collision, and CM Punk’s planned return. We’ve not been able to confirm the rumored dollar figure or an all-encompassing deal.

There were rumors last month that WWE and WBD had talks, but reps from both sides hadn’t heard that whatsoever and quickly shot it down.

There are already several Saturday dates set to film AEW Collision, but we’re told that when necessary, the company may book a venue two straight days and film on Thursdays.

We haven’t heard if this has anything to do with keeping Punk and the Elite apart, but sources indicated that both sets of talent would occasionally appear on Dynamite and Collision when it’s called for.

We're told that there are plans to have a fresh roster approach with some significant names. There are several AEW talent who have been sidelined and believe they’ll appear on the show, but haven’t outright been told they are.

This story will come into focus a lot more over the next week with more facts than rumors.

Those would be solid investments.

Andrew Placko

take some of that money to solidify resigns of Omega, The Bucks, Hangman, and MJF for 5 years.

Reinmaker

My understanding is that those are separate deals, so international distribution wouldn't be impacted.

Ryan Cremeans

I mean honestly, I think what WBD probably will care most about is driving traffic to their new MAX service. And AEW will do that. Nielson ratings aren't everything, especially with the majority are now cord-cutting.

rocksolid124

I would be fine with the second option if they made the PPVs something like $24.99 for non subscribers and $19.99 for subscribers? Idk I’m just throwing out numbers I haven’t put much thought into it besides just now

Talk About Your Psalms Talk About John 3 16 Femboy 3 16 Says I Just Licked Your Ass

Except AEW will be actually successful and make money once this deal goes into effect

Do international Fite subscribers need to be worried about WBD wanting to keep all aew programming on their platforms? Or is that only a USA relevant situation?

Michael Taylor

Yea I record just in case I am not home. Watch later.

Scott Newcomb

Thanks makes sense.

Scott Newcomb

how well do you think the show will do on a Saturday. Love AEW but I can't promise to be tuned in every week.

Shaun V.

Still curious about how PPVs would work on Max. Would they do it like WWE PLEs on Peacock and have them included in the subscription, or do it like UFC and still make fans pay for them behind the paywall? Seems like the later would be the best option for WBD to get the most out of the deal since AEW does so few PPVs throughout the year.

Justin Reid

Not that many big names ( if any ) and no big matches. It will almost be like Dark and Elevation.

FWPJR.

So WWE wasn’t a legitimate wrestling company until the mid 2000’s?

FWPJR.

It says when necessary they’ll film it on Thursday, it doesn’t say it won’t be live.

FWPJR.

Rampage will be like Heat. What does that mean? I didnt watch Heat , can someone explain?????

Scott Newcomb

So Collision is going to be pre-taped and not live? I assumed it was going to be a live type of deal on Saturdays.

Andrew Harrison

Kinda like early 2000s Impact... and Impact ever since then. Lol

Troy A Palek

Ok, that would be fu%$/n amazing if that was it

Troy A Palek

It's so weird that t-shirt company that was canceled and went out of business before they started (and has since apparently suffered both many many times) is about to announce a new TV deal. I mean I thought it was odd the repeatedly canceled shows kept happening but I figured it was like an Office Space thing where they hoped it'd work itself out.

Jason O'Dell

Pretty crazy that we're seeing these TV rumors and development stuff before WBD and/or AEW makes the official announcement.

Sheila Antonio

They already have live dates booked... the post says when "needed" they will book a thursday for tapings. I'd imagine there will be saturdays when they have to tape a show e.g. Going to england you cannot do a live show in Primetime on this side of the pond or a ppv.

slick

I’d make sure Collision is live most weeks. Maybe film one live and then record one. I’d put Rampage on the streaming thing then it wouldn’t get moved around every week.

Rob Butler

How will this effect AEW ppvs since they do there big shows on a Saturday sometimes

Kyle Pribila

Punk vs Miro or Andrade or Scorp or Statlander or PAC.

Excellence of Flexecution

Scorpio Sky and Miro would be a welcome sight to see on Television again so I hope they're apart of it.

Suhail Barekzai

Collision being a taped show rather than live? I guess we'll have to see if that works out.

Tempo1337

So Collision is not gonna be live then?

Ricky Taylor

If there's no all encompassing deal then what the hell is happening with All In? Is it actually the World's Largest House show?

LostRhino

Any news if it will be a live show?

Josh Powell

Will punk just show up? Or will there be a build to his return.

Mike

Collision needs to be two hours and live. Otherwise the ratings will be on par with Rampage.

John Horton

Brand split is money. Without a brand split you have 2 of the same shows. Yawn. A brand split legitimizes a professional Wrestling company. 😀🌈🦄

Nathan Robinson

I like it

Andrew Bates

I neeeeeed AEW on Max already.

Shmingy Dingy

All of this sounds good
