Details on the future of AEW Dark/Elevation

AEW Dark and Elevation both may be wrapping up soon.

With All Elite Collision starting soon, it looks like AEW’s broadcast plans are changing, per Andrew Zarian. Fite had recently indicated that AEW Dark: Elevation was ending its three year run. However, it doesn’t look to be the only show ending. Broadcast sources indicated to Fightful that AEW Dark would also be wrapping sooner than later. The show has been airing on Youtube since October 2019. Those that we spoke to indicated that almost all AEW programming would be appearing on WBD platforms moving forward.

We’re told that talent being looked at will still get opportunities, it will just more than likely be on the Ring of Honor brand. To the best of our knowledge, ROH broadcasts are not a part of this new, altered deal. We’re expecting a new or altered AEW television deal with WBD to be announced this month.

I'm a bit disappointed about this, yeah they're mostly squash matches but they serve to both give talent ring time and get their movesets over. I haven't been too well recently and both where an easy watch. It's the same with WWE network not up loading Golden Era Superstars or Wrestling Challenge, which, were digitised for wwe 24/7 I Believe. It's history of the fed and a bit of a shame they ignore it

Ian Burkhill

i mean, if they put forward better matches, maybe we'd get more.

Masterojack

it was 100% comms. Wight shouldn't be allowed near an announcer's desk

Masterojack

Your probably right but I'm hopeing they change when it airs

Kyle Sizemore

Nothing changes for Rampage from what I have seen.

Scott Newcomb

I mean, aside from how it was used to help free agent talent get noticed by bigger companies, Dark & Elevation only really existed cause of the rankings system, and with that having been abolished, there really wasn't any other point to having it continue.

CSDX

I actually kind of enjoyed seeing talent on dark/elevation that I didn't really get on the main roster. Hopefully a lot of the them will still get used for whatever they got going on, moving forward.

If they build Ring of Honor's Midcard and tag titles into a developmental opportunity, they'll still keep the spirit of Dark and Elevation, without abandoning the aspirations of talent getting chances to shine.

Rincewind

Kind of but TK mentioned he would put stars in between angles on ROH. I don't think everyone on ROH is signed to AEW (e.g. Indie talent) like what WWE does. It's basically going to be like old ROH (which NXT basically ripped off in the black and gold era).

That's definitely my fear with the news.

Rincewind

This is a good move. Now that they have ROH it should be their defacto development / get reps in before a run in AEW coming out of injury show. I hope a lot of the young talent that aren't ready are on ROH and they also bring in indie talent. The likes of Joe, Claudio, and Kingston will need to be on COllision and Dynamite going forward.

slick

Honestly, I would just kill off Rampage, move ROH to the new MAX service and have just the 3 shows each week.

Tim Wininger

Very disappointing, especially for a women’s division screwed out of any more than a solo match across the major shows.

David C

Fantastic news - now get rid of Battle of the Belts and turn Rampage into a recap show with 1-2 taped matches so we can just focus on Weds and Sat

Adam Frazier

I didn't care for Elevation - which may have been comms Dark was decent value in the smaller venue. Don't particularly like ROH on the road either

Alex KP

I wonder what happens with rampage then

Kyle Sizemore

So pretty much now ROH is like NXT now right

Kyle Pribila

So ROH becoming an NXT?
