Details on Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes WWE feud

Brock Lesnar is sticking around in WWE, and is working a program with Cody Rhodes.

Fightful Select reported this week that while there were some adjustments to Cody Rhodes' WWE Raw plans, this was not one of them. Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes were not only scheduled to start a program before Vince McMahon, but it was planned well before that.

Sources familiar with the situation say that Brock Lesnar was aware of his creative plans for after WrestleMania nearly a month ahead of time. We can't say that the entirety of creative knew that was the direction, but that those in the know -- specifically Brock, were aware that was the plan moving forward. There were hints of a heel turn in his presentation based on those we spoke to. Not getting back into the ring with Omos, backing out of the ring in some interactions with Omos, avoiding contact were some hints. The creative plans for Brock to stand side-by-side with Cody, then eventually F5 him were laid out to him a month before Raw after Mania.

What does Roman do for the next year now? Yes I'm assuming he's going tto hold the titles until WM 40 at least. He likely will not lose at SS and he sure as hell isnt losing on a B level PLE or TV. His title reign is special enough to the point where it really has to end at WM. So who do they feed to Roman until then that tells a compelling story AND is believable enough as a credible threat?

Michael Lasowski

He has an attribute that’s rare to have in this industry: the fans believe him. When he said he can beat Roman still, they believe him, when he cuts his promo on Brock that he might be a beast, but he can kill that beast, they’ll believe him. I don’t know if it’ll be as hot, but they’ll love him still

Jon Blain

This might be the stupidest thing I have seen today

Collin Ingram

I disagree with the plan and think blowing the Cody story with a loss at mania was, dumb but it is clear that they wanted him to go thru his Hard times and win the title, later. Unless Vince ruins , That.

Sean, I guess the question I have is whether those plans initially had Cody holding the title(s), making Brock the first challenger for the championship.

Scott Carlson

Disagree. Crowd was steal red hot for him Monday. We’ll see if that holds moving forward

It’s also a perfect feud for Cody, a guy who is a really good storyteller to build that he has to beat Brock to ever get his story finished

Jon Blain

My thought is Brock is pissed because he's not allowed to wrestle Roman for the title and if Cody won, he could wrestle for the title again and Cody failed, so he's pissed off at him?

Kevin Collier

on the bright side, if cody had won, then there was always the chance the next night brock beats him in 8 seconds again, like poor Kofi.

David Feig

Agreed

Charles Lee Ray

This would have been a great fued for the title. Way over part time roman holding both belts.

Charles Lee Ray

Couldnt this of happened with Cody winning the belt at mania? Bloodline looking for Revenge and Roman demanding a rematch. Brock coming out and telling Cody he has his back. Pierce comes out and makes the tag as the main event?

Every wrestler that knows they are losing weeks or months before a big show does that, not just Cody lol

FWPJR.

Can they keep cody as hot as he was before mania is the question

David Nusbaumer

Yeah but I would bet Brock assumed Cody would be champ, it would make more sense if he was in this case

Brady Livingston

I'm a Lesnar fan, I'm not a huge Cody fan and don't feel that now is the time for him to be Champ. Mania was played very well, I think Cody was just a character in the Bloodline saga. A fued with Cody and Brock keeps both stars in the spotlight but out of the title picture. It will be interesting to see what comes next.

That’s always what he’s been good at though, he’s a promoter through and through

Jon Blain

u know this how?

DeQuan

Fuck Brock, fuck Vince. Cody will never be as hot as he was prior to and day of, WrestleMania. Whoever thought that Roman going over Cody was a good idea should go back to their day job.

Marc Opps

I still don't think Vince is back full time. Think this was just for WM weekend and the two shows after.

Jonathan Cooney

Sounds like very solid plans for his first challenge after winning the title off the unstoppable Head of the Table. Now that he's lost, told Roman how good he is ignoring the interference, and had no offense in the attack by Brock, I'm not so sure it works.

Ryan Cremeans

I think Heyman had some involvement? Roman was wondering why Brock would do it, so maybe connect those two angles somehow? Who knows with Vince getting his hands involved in creative though 🤷.

Scott Payne

I'm curious how they are going to make Brock attacking Cody make any sense.. especially after Roman and Brock's history.

Jesse

Cody HAS to slay the beast if they want to save his championship contender character. Seems to be the route they're going, before maybe a rematch with Roman at maybe Summer slam? Waiting a year with no title change would suck.

Scott Payne

Can you imagine how nervous people would be if Cody won the belt and now having a program with Cody with Vince in the chair? Lol

Trevor D.

So Cody knew he was losing at Mania a month out from it? I thought they were still undecided on a finish/winner up to 10 days before? ? Interesting. If he did know, God did he play it off well the entire buildup/especially in interviews mania week...

Jesse

Sounds like damage control to me lol
