Update On Brian Cage-AEW Status, When His Deal Expires
Added 2023-03-08 21:10:01 +0000 UTCBrian Cage's time in AEW could be coming to an end.
Recently we reported that Brian Cage's AEW deal was set to expire imminently. However, there were some hiccups to that Fightful Select has learned that AEW had hoped to extend his deal due to injury time that would keep him with the company until at least the end of June. However, Cage pushed back on that and was interested in exploring free agency, and for good reason.
Fightful Select has been told that WWE has maintained interest in Cage in the event he becomes a free agent, and are open to having conversations with the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion. That period won't have to wait long, as we're told AEW and Cage agreed to work together through the end of March, specifically the ROH Supercard of Honor PPV.
We're told that some of the time that was supposed added to Cage's contract is actually because Cage was signed while injured after leaving IMPACT Wrestling years ago. Those familiar with the situation claim that AEW offered Cage a contract extension comparable to his current deal, which hasn't been ruled out.
Originally, Cage's AEW contract was set to expire between late January and mid-February. We're told that Cage has had some "heavy hitters" within AEW in his corner of late. Chris Jericho specifically spoke publicly, saying he hopes that Cage re-signs with AEW, and putting over his work.

2023-03-10 18:08:24 +0000 UTCHow his him being an antivaxxer make him fit in wwe.. I believe wwe only had a select few who were.. I could be wrong though.. but kinda a strange reason for him to fit in lol. Idk exactly who is it not .. not pretending too … but it seems that’s much more a minority in both companies

2023-03-09 15:30:43 +0000 UTCI’m ok with it to be honest if you sign a three year contract & get injured for six months & the company still pays you during that time i they should be aloud add that time to the contract. I think it’s important however to make sure the talent is in the know about it

2023-03-09 05:31:33 +0000 UTCHe's an antivaxxer last I checked(feel free to prove me wrong if I'm wrong and that he got vaccinated), so he'd fit right in with WWE. Hell, in a way, he already fit in with iMPACT in that regard.

2023-03-09 02:40:52 +0000 UTCHow do people feel about added injury time? I remember the hate WWE got from a lot of AEW fans that this was unethical and not fair

2023-03-08 22:56:22 +0000 UTCYES PLEASE! Could make for a great Forbidden Door match to get as many people on the card as possible. Fale, Tito, Cobb, Henare, Tama, and have ishii win it on his way to a dream IWGP heavyweight win at WK. And I want Nick Comoroto in there too. Damn that would be fun. The Big Man Battle Royal.

2023-03-08 22:42:27 +0000 UTCI think it says a lot he that he was upset with AEW trying to add time & having to agree to compromise to final battle. I think he’s WWE bound & I think it’s a good thing for Cage AEW has to big of a roster & not enough tv to feature everyone. With WWE there seven hours of tv & he’s more likely to be featured. He’s a great talent that unfortunately feels lost in the shuffle

2023-03-08 22:20:22 +0000 UTCI personally enjoy Cage, but if he leaves, it's not like AEW is exactly losing anything.

2023-03-08 21:37:42 +0000 UTCHe never wins on TV. They inexplicably didn't book him at all for a year despite him being healthy. Not sure why he would re-sign.

2023-03-08 21:27:01 +0000 UTCSame here. They could give his spot to someone else it wouldn't bother me.

2023-03-08 21:24:34 +0000 UTCWould love to see more heavyweights going at it. Not for belts, just have heavyweights alpha-dogging each other. I want to see a Brian Cage vs Lance Archer vs Samoa Joe vs Wardlow vs Hobbs vs Luchasaurus vs Keith Lee in a “fuck you i’m the biggest of the big” match, Paul Wight and Mark Henry on commentary. We almost had something like jt during that ladder match I think at revolution last year, but I want them to go big or go home. Big men slappin meat.

2023-03-08 21:22:10 +0000 UTCWouldn't miss him much to be honest. He's not bad but just lacks something to get me to care.
