Select Portions: AEW, Thunder Rosa, Street Profits, More
Added 2023-02-20 21:36:21 +0000 UTC- Most of the WWE roster were aware of the Tony Khan/Ariel Helwani tweets by the time Elimination Chamber rolled around, and it was discussed among several people backstage.
- We noted last week that AEW talent were told not to go to the border. Hangman Page said that he and another wrestler accidentally crossed into Mexico and nearly got detained
- JTG of Cryme Tyme was at WWE Elimination Chamber. We're told that he was just visiting, and maintains a positive relationship with WWE.
- Fightful did reach out to Thunder Rosa last week about the meeting that was held upon her return, but she only told us that she was happy to be doing commentary. There were some within AEW that incorrectly assumed she provided us details on the meeting.
- Fightful filmed an interview with Davey Boy Smith Jr. today. It releases later this week.
- During our interview with the Street Profits, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins said that they don't necessarily try to one up each other. Angelo Dawkins said if they had been the last two in the Royal Rumble, they'd have jumped over the top rope at the same time. Montez said that Dawkins' new name in the ring should be LUCHA DAWKS. Dawkins disagrees.

He didn't hurt it or help it. I think you're overestimating just how many people even KNOW about the tweet. The IWC isn't as big as you think it is.

2023-02-21 02:29:28 +0000 UTCI am not a fan of WWE trying to kill off promotions. I know it's their right as a business but it's really not good for the industry, fans and wrestlers. I don't think AEW is going anywhere due to the resources they have and Tony's passion for wrestling but it is good to point out just how ruthless WWE could be. The monopoly was so bad for wrestling.

2023-02-21 01:13:22 +0000 UTCThen who gives a fuck if Ariel makes an appearance in his hometown? Survivor Series is what GOT him into wrestling. Why the hell would he turn down a chance to make a 10 second cameo with GSP? A lot of the WWE crowd isn't familiar with GSP or his impact in Canada. Why the hell would you care THAT much about Ariel making an appearance that you make a drunken rant about it and call him a "fraud"? That makes you look like a 12 year old child. Tony HURT AEW by tweeting. He didn't help it.

2023-02-20 22:40:38 +0000 UTCDenise has always presented herself as a TV Host/Producer and not a journalist, unbiased or otherwise. Ariel Halwani has and still is calling himself a journalist. Its comparing apples and oranges.

2023-02-20 22:29:22 +0000 UTCShe obviously took money from them for being on the show & going back to OP's original comment "once you take money from a company that you are supposed to be reporting on in an unbiased manner you have shot any integrity or reputation you had out the window" she should of gotten the same negative feedback as Ariel but she didn't
2023-02-20 22:24:20 +0000 UTCIs Denise out here insisting she is an “unbiased” journalist?

2023-02-20 22:15:30 +0000 UTCIf i recall a couple of months ago Denise Salcedo was on the NXT pre show and she never got shit for it
2023-02-20 22:12:37 +0000 UTCExactly. Once you say things like "According to my sources . . ." and don't cite another organization as a source, as Sean does when he says stuff like "According to Raj or Meltzer, etc," then you are confirming indirectly that you 1) have insider sources you are using for privileged info and 2) you are reporting the info you received from them. This means you are a journalist breaking news on that business, which he has presented himself as in the past.

2023-02-20 22:10:53 +0000 UTCHe also reported on Cody leaving AEW and that WWEs camp was in contact, that Logan Paul signed and that Roman tested positive for Covid per his sources, he didn't cite another outlet for those tweets.

2023-02-20 22:03:03 +0000 UTCHe did tweet that WWE was not sold to the Saudi investment fund, for one thing.

2023-02-20 21:58:15 +0000 UTCAdmitting he takes money from WWE. Dude is a paid shill. Should be treated as such going forward.

2023-02-20 21:57:38 +0000 UTCWhen has Helwani broken/reported wrestling news? Conducting interviews is not the same.

2023-02-20 21:56:57 +0000 UTCI think Tony never should have sent those tweets. Sadly its not the worst thing TK has done on twitter. That being said, Ariel's response...is something. Its also odd his defense is that he claims to only be an MMA journalist and NOT a wrestling journalist--which undercuts WWE calling him credible and trusted. Nobody comes off well. It would be great to have Nick Khan, HHH or Vince go on Ariel's interview show and get peppered with every question about all of Vince's NDA and settled lawsuits. Then when they don't answer, would he tweet to complain about it?

2023-02-20 21:55:44 +0000 UTCI used to work in TV news and still have a lot of friends in the business. I asked a large portion of them their opinions on this Ariel thing. Every single one of them said the same thing--no matter what he says he is, he is NOT a journalist, at least not an ethical one. Once you take money from a company that you are supposed to be reporting on in an unbiased manner, you have shot any integrity or reputation you had out the window and nothing you say as it pertains to that business or an opposing one can be trusted. WWE uses the idea he is an "unbiased" journalist to boost their own image. Its just another form of "sports-washing."

2023-02-20 21:50:19 +0000 UTCLucha Dawks lol. That’s kinda funny. I know people want Tez to break out and I’m cool with that. I just don’t want them to do it at the expense of breaking them up via a feud. That’s the Vince way. Let them mutually chase singles gold but still team up if they have to.

2023-02-20 21:50:10 +0000 UTCIts well known that during the Wednesday night wars that they had a monitor showing Dynamite backstage at NXT and HHH himself admits he watches aew.

2023-02-20 21:43:53 +0000 UTCThat was pretty silly of Tony to do to Ariel, even if you're someone who HATES Ariel. Get mad at the guy why? Because he's supportive of his home town guy? That's like 9th grade school girl drama. Also, he just flat out lets WWE know he's watching their program LIVE immediately after his program ended. Doesn't tape it. He's just watching live 20 minutes after his program's telecast ended. He comes across pretty sad to me. He's a nice guy, but that was embarrassing. Hope he was just blackout drunk or something.
