WWE discussed bringing another act back
Added 2023-01-23 00:23:32 +0000 UTCWWE has had internal discussions about bringing back a big act, physically especially.
Fightful Select has learned that Akam and Rezar, collectively known as the Authors of Pain or AOP, have been discussed for a potential return to the WWE. Both were an integral part of the NXT Black and Gold brand before being called up to WWE Raw.
In addition, the possibility of their longtime, original manager Paul Ellering was also discussed. He managed them during their NXT run before being abandoned on the main roster. The duo remained close with Ellering, and got his blessing to name themselves Legion of Pain outside WWE. There were originally rumors Ellering didn't want to do the main roster travel, which he's refuted.
Both men are still under 30 years old, and haven't wrestled in nearly three years. They were released in 2020, and largely were out of the wrestling business, besides their ill-fated promotion attempts with WES in 2022. Rezar had told some promoters and writers prior to that he was "retired" or "wasn't a wrestler anymore," which clearly changed as they were set to wrestle in the summer of 2022.

I’m thinking they come out during the trial of Sami

2023-01-23 17:59:49 +0000 UTCI can’t believe there was a tag team who was essentially two Brock Lesnars that were super over with the fans, and Vince still didn’t know what to do with them.

2023-01-23 01:49:51 +0000 UTCI loved AOP, I could see why Vince found them hard to book because they just look like they should always be champions or top contenders. Trips is better at coming up with stories for everyone that don't involve titles. Take the Viking Raiders for example, Vince had them eating meat off the bone and playing sports against the Street Prophets. Trips had them take out 2 top heavyweights before ultimately losing to them in a good competitive match.

2023-01-23 01:42:30 +0000 UTCI hope they develop some tag feuds not around the titles. It’ll go along way to making the division feel important. Because right now if you aren’t after the Usos then you’re not really doing anything of note.

2023-01-23 01:17:14 +0000 UTCHonestly thought their wrestling career was over after they fucked over everyone trying to start their own promotion.

2023-01-23 00:37:25 +0000 UTCHonestly I’d be happy to see them back under Trips as it would add to tag division. HHH has done a good job rebuilding the tag division. Once they split the belts they have enough teams for each brand to have a set of tag titles & I’d like to see AOP against USOS New Day & Zayn & Owens to name a few. Be great to run it back with DIY

2023-01-23 00:34:57 +0000 UTCThis is something I really want to see. It's something that the Raw tag team division desperately needs.
