Stephanie McMahon resigns as WWE CEO; More details, reactions.
Added 2023-01-11 00:21:46 +0000 UTCA shocking piece of news that probably shouldn't be so shocking, as Stephanie McMahon has resigned as CEO and Chairwoman of WWE as Vince McMahon has returned and taken the Executive Chairman spot.
WWE confirmed to Fightful that Nick Khan would be serving as solo CEO of the company, and it was reiterated via WWE source that Triple H is still Chief Content Officer, and in charge of live events and talent. This has been repeatedly stressed to us.
It was portrayed to Fightful as if Stephanie McMahon was resuming the leave of absence she'd taken last year before returning to work months later when Vince McMahon stepped down and later retired. Stephanie has remained well liked among staff and talent that we've spoken to, as has Nick Khan, who will assume more of her duties.
Stephanie McMahon led an employee meeting on January 6 where she admitted "there's naturally some animosity" before correcting the term to "angst," regarding some's feelings about Vince McMahon forcing his way back in. Much of Stephanie McMahon's own team was dismantled in major cuts during the pandemic.
Several WWE talent messaged Fightful, very confused by the situation, asking what it "really" meant for both Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan. The general consensus that we gauged was uncertainty of what a move like this actually means. One talent heavily stressed that they believe Vince McMahon taking over creative duties would lead to public frustration from the roster. Another source said that they're hopeful this means a sale is coming.
We'll update this as we get more information.

Possible. Or Vince opted to return and lead sale negotiations so he could sell to a group that would leave him in charge of the company/creative. If he was at home, Nick Khan could have set up a sale to anybody.

2023-01-11 01:57:05 +0000 UTCI can’t imagine her leaving is solely Vince being back unless the sale is all but lined up. Nick was secured a lot of money if he got one for the company and morale-wise, I don’t even think it’s worth having Vince in creative. She probably looked at it like “well, it’s done”. Could also be Vince making it unbearable for her considering her iced her before she came back a year ago. Regardless, WWE remains the most insane political minefield and I can’t imagine any paycheck is worth the anxiety and turmoil someone feels mentally.

2023-01-11 01:47:14 +0000 UTCThe company’s being prepped for sale anyway, she’s just getting out of the messy public spectacle around his return IMO. I have a hunch HHH stays with the company after new owners take over.

2023-01-11 01:40:18 +0000 UTCI should have known Vince wouldn’t be able to stay away once it got close to Wrestlemania season. Let’s see how long it takes for him to make Triple H the head of creative in name only.

2023-01-11 01:23:07 +0000 UTCGenuinely feel bad for people in the company and for fans that were enjoying the changes to the product. Me as someone that didn't enjoy the Vince era or the Triple H era? I've got my popcorn ready to see what madness happens this year.

2023-01-11 01:13:23 +0000 UTCIt just really seems that Vince couldn’t stand to see WWE starting to thrive without him. Just sad…

2023-01-11 01:11:43 +0000 UTCI had a feeling the animosity was Steph based seeing as she’d do anything to protect her father from making a huge business mistake
