WWE has been interested in NJPW star
Added 2023-01-06 02:33:14 +0000 UTCWWE is interested in a New Japan Pro Wrestling name who is in the news today... but it isn't who you might think.
Fightful Select has learned that higher ups within WWE have expressed interest internally in Hikuleo. Fightful has told that has been the word for "months," and we actually had heard that even prior to the Wrestle Kingdom show.
The news is pertinent, as Hikuleo is booked in a "loser leaves Japan" match against "Switchblade" Jay White in the immediate future. It's important to note that we haven't been told if contact has been made between the two sides or when Hikuleo's NJPW contract is up. However, we've been told that much like with Finn Balor helping bring in Dragon Lee, intermediaries have been used to express interest to the talent themselves in many cases.
The 31-year old Hikuleo stands 6'8" and has wrestled for over six years after getting training at Team 3D Academy, the NJPW Dojo and Fale Dojo. He's made appearances for IMPACT Wrestling and All Elite Wreslting along the way as well. He's the brother of Tama Tonga, and the nephew of Haku, who adopted him as a son very early on in life.
We've not been given any indication that the Loser Leaves Japan match is related to this.
Comments
I didn’t say they were related. They are both from Polynesian decent, and whether related or not, they grew up in the same circles in the South Pacific. In fact, the Rock considers Haku his “uncle”. It’s undeniable that Guerrillas of Destiny vs Usos would be a money feud. It’s also something Tama Tonga has referenced as a dream match. All the points above = built-in story.
2023-01-06 05:10:06 +0000 UTCDidn’t realise Hikuleo was 31. That’s not old, but he’s older than I realised. Could be a good move for him!

2023-01-06 03:41:03 +0000 UTCJay is a tall (ish) white guy that works using psychology. He’d do well in WWE.

2023-01-06 03:07:31 +0000 UTCIt's not a question of who Vince likes. It's a question of it being Vince period.

2023-01-06 03:01:18 +0000 UTCI admit I haven’t seen much of the guy but he’s got the look. It would be interesting to see how he’s booked. He’s only 31. A team with Solo Sikoa could be a fun, kinda new “Headshrinkers” type vibe

2023-01-06 02:59:20 +0000 UTCDude is 6’8. Even if Vince does find his way back, that’s exactly the kinda guy he would gravitate too

2023-01-06 02:51:07 +0000 UTCIt would be great if Tama Tonga came with him. Would be a nice compliment to have the pair and you’ve got a built in story with whatever is left of the Bloodline.
2023-01-06 02:45:56 +0000 UTCHikuleo would be great in the Bloodline but if Vince comes back he'll probably put him in a tag team with Omos 🤷🏻♂️

2023-01-06 02:44:53 +0000 UTCI don’t think I’ve ever seen a good Hikuleo match

2023-01-06 02:40:51 +0000 UTCRun, dude. If Vince is back, you don't want anything they will offer.
