2024-09-05 04:34:27 +0000 UTCMy pet theory is that concepts are easier to use for Unity, because you have to have a firm conceptualization of what you're trying to do. People understand water as a concept, they drink it, swim in it, pull fish out of it, learned about it in 8th grade science. People don't have much of a concept of platinum or osmium. And good/bad producing healing shows that firm conceptualization can bridge lacking understanding to produce an effect. I bet the best thing that could be done for using unity of blood for osmium would just be a ton of research into what it is, where it's found, what it's used for, what its properties are. I also wonder if he's straight materializing it, or if he's taking it from his environment. When he used unity of blood for gold, did he functionally steal it from his uncle's watch collection?

Sure, one killed a bunch of people he knew on the whims of his demon, but as far as Mark is concerned they're all very true to their nature. Also the fact that Addashield wasn't a perfect moral human doesn't stop him from being a hero of humanity that did vastly more good than evil over his tenure. I dunno, I just feel like he's pushing this weird anti-trust thing a little too far. Why even talk to the guy if he's going to pretend he heard nothing that entire time there other than the metal thing? I thought he'd have at least made a remark like "Oh, maybe Blackthorn was telling the truth about magic then" in the convo with Isoko if we're not pretending he's forgotten everything in that conversation.

2024-08-24 22:10:03 +0000 UTCThis quote makes no sense: Mark asked, “Can you actually learn new magic when you already have a Power?” Isn't that literally what Blackthorn told him people could do? He literally told him there's less room for magic in a crowded soul but it's still possible. Magic less related to your Power takes extra work as well. The closer you can relate the magic to your Power/etc the easier it's supposed to be to develop. Unless I read that entire section wrong?
