Free Planet designs: Victor

Continuing the Free Planet design posts, this time focusing on Victor MacLiu.

Victor is a child of privilege, a university trained anthropologist, the son of an Interplanetary Development Alliance admiral. While living with and studying the indigenous population of Aides/Lutheria, he threw in his lot with the revolution. He is a charismatic leader and a ruthless strategist.

First drawing of Victor: it looks like I rejected this one- though I am not sure why. Maybe he just looked too cruel?
This next version of him has more of a square jawed hero look to him, as well as one blinded eye. Since there were already a few characters with eye injuries, I decided against that. But this general look is what I decided to stick with.
I believe I was trying to make Victor look more like Toshiro Mifune in this version. I think he looks too old here.
Since he's a main character and bit of a showboat, I designed a special pistol for him. This is a plasma pistol. Most plasma weapons are large rifles with a backpack mounted power source; presumably Victor has this more expensive model due to his wealthy origins.

A sheet of Victor head sketches, to get him figured out from multiple directions. His profile looks off in both versions, but that bottom drawing looks really good to me.
A digital painting of Victor- this might be an earlier version of his look, since I didn't draw his scar, but he looks like a really sweet guy with a deadly weapon.
