2025-02-07 23:14:23 +0000 UTCIf you could time travel backwards (and back to current time) and would not get sick from e.g. the bubonic plague, where and when would you like to visit? If one is too difficult, pick 3 ;) Is there a historic craft that you'd love to see done properly?

2025-02-07 23:14:00 +0000 UTCOh!!! If it's not too late / too annoyingly vague - What is the single most important moment in history?

2025-02-06 09:13:26 +0000 UTCDr. Southon and Miss Matthewson, could you both talk about how sexism and misogyny have impacted your careers (if it has (which I assume it has?)). My father works in construction and my mother is a medical doctor, I am fascinated by home desensitized both of them are to the misogyny in their respective fields. Even as an educated, accredited, and successful MD, my mom puts up with a lot of shit. I would absolutely love to hear both of your perspectives on this- I know both of you have brought up various slights and other things, but I am really interested to know what it is like in other places and industries. I’m also asking this because of my experience growing up as a young woman in rural america; the media I consumed as a child was so positive and built a picture that we had ‘fought and won’ sexism, which was furthered when I saw the MeToo movement take over the world while I was in middle school. But then I went from my small catholic school to my much larger catholic school, and it is just so prevalent here for me. Even as a highschool senior and my state’s debate champion I deal with harassment from boys years younger than me. I guess another question I am posing here is how did you or do you both deal with these challenges when they come up, because I am so disillusioned with this myth of progress I was sold and I am already sick of fighting not to be heard, but only to not be talked ever. Also, this isn’t even a question and it’s hella dramatic, but I am a teenage girl!! 🤪

2025-02-06 04:42:41 +0000 UTCHow did all of you meet and start podcasting together?
Amanda Hendrickson
2025-02-04 20:00:33 +0000 UTCI don’t think that’s a silly question and I would love to hear this!

2025-02-02 21:29:28 +0000 UTCThis might be a silly question, but why do the Alt Right seem to love Romans so much.

2025-02-02 20:56:41 +0000 UTCHow do you start the research process? Especially with a topic you have no background in

2025-02-02 14:39:02 +0000 UTCWhat are your favorite, most accessible nonfiction books/authors? Especially about lesser discussed history (I’m full up on Henry VIII and WW2) ***EDITED TO ADD: I’ve read all three of Emma’s books and recommend them to everyone, all the time!!!

2025-01-31 16:25:31 +0000 UTCWho's your favourite overlooked person in history? Somebody who's done something amazing (or heinous) but has faded into the background
JD
2025-01-31 15:21:08 +0000 UTCFor each of you, which has been your favourite book you've written?
JD
2025-01-31 15:19:50 +0000 UTCAlso, do either of you think the King Richard Society has a legitimate basis for casting King Richard III as a hero and thinking the princes in the tower survived, or is it a combination of wishful thinking and a sprinkling of bad historiography? Or any third option?
EdgarWasRobbed
2025-01-30 21:34:22 +0000 UTCProbably worth a whole length episode in itself, but did the Roman Republic fall because some people (Caesar, Octavian) were in the right place at the right time, or did it fall due to inherent flaws in the structure of the republic/other factors that made collapse inevitable?
EdgarWasRobbed
2025-01-30 21:29:58 +0000 UTCI'd love Emma to talk more about the Roman ghost hole!
