"Let Me In" Caturday

Look at that fat belly. Really, he eats too much. >.>

Anyway, I had a lovely family reunion this week and it is finished and now am in need of serious recovery time! If you have any great books to recommend so I can hole myself up in a corner with an excuse to not talk to anyone, I'm all for it!

News... um... serialization continues on Kherishdar. The third book of Morgan's trilogy is about to get its audio edition, and then I will run the Kickstarter for it and Book 2. And I'm hoping to get the Jokka audio stuff onto Bandcamp next month. We shall see.

You're writing is so wonderfully nuanced (even to word choice that furthers the mood) I'm hesitant to suggest anything but I really found myself enjoying Gingell's Wolfskin (some complain the ending is too abrupt), or for a completely different type of pacing/style Wen Spencer's The Black Wolves of Boston 8 Million Gods.

Oh, he looks a good weight to me! Most grown male cats have a little belly poof there- it's protective to keep other cats' hind feet from getting through to the tender bits when they fight. But I can see definition on his hips and shoulders, which is healthy.

I've just finished 'Shards of a Broken Sword' by W. R. Gingell, who is new to me. The title makes is sound like a standard epic fantasy, but it's not. It's a trio of novellas, with different characters that all meet up at the end. There's a kind of Country House Whodunit, a sort of dungeon crawl and a lopsided Chosen One Quest, but it's all done with a light touch - witty, romantic and with a cunning, sure-footed control of structure. Its a lot of fun.

I just finished "That Ain't Witchcraft", the eighth novel in Seanan McGuire's InCryptid series, and very much enjoyed it. Once again she pulls off the impossible of writing a book that is both an integral part of a complex series, and a stand-alone great read.
