June 2018 Progress Report

This one will be kind of short! Because June was discombobulated, with family in the hospital and then other family showing up for a week-long vacation. (Yes, things are fine. Thank you for worrying!) Let's get to it.

Writing Progress

I mentioned last month that I wanted to get something out the door, so I threw all my prior plans out the window and finished editing Sword of the Alliance (as I mentioned in my post about career writer challenges). That involved me adding another 68 pages of material to it--and that after I cut a lot of words out of it!--so I was basically rewriting huge chunks of the book. I'm happy with it now, and it's currently in post-production, which involves fixing up typo/wordos, addressing first reader questions, and then formatting and prepping marketing fluff. My target is early August... mostly because the cover doesn't exist yet even as the most basic sketch. But I'm pushing on that project because I want an August release. The photo up there is my revised publishing schedule for the remainder of 2018... let's see if it sticks!

Sediryl gained about 10K words, which is good enough for me because it's probably going to be only 70K in total. That means I'm about half done writing it.

Finally, Kherishdar's Exception is launching next week! My plan is to post every Wednesday, and then have a "let's talk about the serial" discussion on Wednesday on Discord. I'll be putting up a poll soon so I can figure out where you all want to post it (based on what comment system you like best), so be looking out for that.

In terms of audio/print editions: PG2 (Some Things Transcend) is our next audio and print target. I'm also planning on Sword having a print edition on release, and an audio edition not long after.

Other Progress

Kickstarter: Having wrapped up the Dreamhealers KS, I am about halfway through my financial analysis of it, because my instinct is that multi-book Kickstarters are not as profitable as single-book Kickstarters, even if they create bigger numbers. When I'm done with that analysis, I'll post it for coffee-cup subscribers. In the meantime, I am planning to launch the Some Things TranscendKickstarter next week. Etsy: I have found--briefly!--a new use for Etsy, which is to sell off my small overstock of books after doodling in them. I keep trying to fill the "Books with Art" section up so that people can browse it, but every time I put a book up it sells immediately! If you want to buy one, the best bet is to watch Twitter or Discord for when I announce it's going up. Or to make a request, and I'll set one aside for you and tell you first when it's going up. 

I still have other stuff available on the store, but this is the product that's moving! So I'm going to keep going with it until it stops moving, and then I'll look for something new to sell. The Etsy store link is here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/StudioMCAH

Art: I've tentatively started painting again, but I am super out of practice and making rookie mistakes. *sad headshake* Nothing to do there but keep going and blow off the rust. My next big project is the Sword cover.
