March Progress Report: ALL THE THINGS

It is already April! Goodness gracious. Let’s see what I was up to in March!

Writing Progress

As you can see and I predicted, I spent all of March pushing on Dreamstorm so I could have it ready for you this month. (It’s out, if you missed the launch post! Go get it!). I wrote roughly 30,000 words to do that, putting every other thing on hold. Then I edited about 10K worth of case studies and dumped the remainder of my writing time into formatting, cover prep, etc. I only wish I could have done it faster!

My next goals are Coracle 1 and now Sediryl’s novel, which I’ve decided I have to finish before I write her wedding and investiture—a story I’m assuming will be a novella in the style of A Rose Point Holiday. *waits for it* Yes, I know, Holiday was supposed to be a short story and ended up a novel. I fully expect this story to wind up the same. But it’s going to be full of lots of fun stuff and it sets up the situation for the Earthrise 2 trilogy, so I don't mind it growing!

Writing those two books will be my task for Q2 of 2018 (that would be April-May-June). Kherishdar 4 is still scheduled to begin serialization in summer; I already have sufficient backlog, and I plan to keep incrementing that as I have spare time throughout spring.

For those of you who prefer visual aids, here’s my plan for the year. It’s already changed once, though, so I wouldn’t bank on it. :D

Here’s the other news!

• Games: I’m pretty happy with the CCG card front design. I’m going to design the back next, and then I can start producing cards! The web game is idling, but I’m not too worried about pushing it until the card game is settled. I will keep you updated.
• Various Print Editions: Last month we got the Strand print edition Kickstarter wrapped up, which means you can now buy that book in print! (Go grab it if you want it!) Our next print edition Kickstarter is going to launch in mid-April, for Dreamhearth! You can use this preview link to set a watch on it, so Kickstarter will send you a note when it goes live.
• Art: I have been arting a lot! Mostly because I’ve been making a habit of taking my big sketchbook out with me, and hitting up the Discord peeps for prompts when I run out of ideas. (Which is how I now have a ‘Disney Princess Sediryl’ illustration. Yes, you read that right.) I’m also going back to some basics I never nailed down and doing exercises in things like perspective. I’m still making some mental decisions about art and what I want to do with it—those are clarifying with some recent decisions/revelations, so I hope to tell you more soon.
• Patreon: Speaking of, we got 7 new patrons in March! *super pleased* And I feel like I’m in the proper swing of things with the $5 folks getting an extra post every weekday or so. In March, the $5+ folks got excerpts from Sediryl’s novel and the new Coracle chapter, lots of art (dragons, Vasiht’h in the kitchen and baby Glaseah and silly RPG cartoons), and sneak peeks at the projects I’m working on or was, including the card game and a lot of “work-in-progress” shots of the Dreamstorm cover. People who are moving up to the “buy the jaguar a cup of coffee a month” tier report they feel like they’re getting a lot for their money, so I am content! Also, the Discord community continues to be amazing. Such great folks. So much fun. If you're in the $5 tier and haven't stopped by, I encourage you to do so. :D
