Words I've Looked Up Lately
Added 2017-05-16 17:53:04 +0000 UTCThe "press for definition" function on my kindle has been lifechanging. Not just because it teaches me new words, but because it lets me double-check ones I think I know, but aren't sure of. I've fixed a lot of lexical errors from my childhood, learning words from context, with my kindle.
Here are some words I looked up lately while reading. :)
Did you all know any of these already?

2017-05-16 20:35:54 +0000 UTCSoutane is what Edmond Dantes wears when disguised as a priest in _The Count of Monte Cristo_. Riparian is a good hobbit word. de Maupassant got good use of parure in one of his short stories. Otherwise, well--sounds like you're actively conspiring to perpetrate language on us. Yay! --filkferengi

2017-05-16 18:40:48 +0000 UTCI know riparian. I've seen prodromal and otiose, but don't know what they mean.
2017-05-16 18:40:18 +0000 UTCI recognized riparian, but the rest were new to me!
2017-05-16 18:35:54 +0000 UTCHow clever of you to make the words into dictionary links... I was sort of close on one, wrong on one, and never saw the others before!
2017-05-16 18:10:44 +0000 UTCI have never seen any of those words before! Nifty. (As for the Kindle function, it's usually -your- books I use it for! My vocabulary is clearly smaller than I thought it was)
