Princes' Game 5 Playlist

As usual, I build playlists of songs for projects as I work on them, and lately have been uploading those to Youtube. PG5 is only about 15% done, so the playlist isn't very long yet. HOWEVER! The reason I've started posting it early is because I'm looking for recs! If you like music, and love "if this, then that" puzzles, go ahead and have a look (listen?) and then send me some songs that remind you of the ones I've already picked!

Most of them are thematically linked. (Yes, even the pony one.) I'm curious to see if the theme is graspable already. :)

Anyway, hit me with links! I'll go listen, and maybe add your suggestions! :D

Princes' Game 5 Playlist

Comments

Finally, not really on the theme of the PG5 playlist, but I have a whole Eldritch playlist that is mostly made up of darkwave/electro-medieval music (bands like Faun, Helium Vola, Qntal) - often stuff with medieval/Renaissance lyrics but with a darkly electronic vibe. - "Flaming Drake" by Qntal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_aavlzfs7o) screams Lisinthir to me (with a little shoutout to Jahir). It draws lyrics from the Ballad of Tom of Bedlam (1620), which is dark and mad and full of fire: The moon's my constant mistress, And the lonely owl my marrow. The flaming drake And the night crow make Me music to my sorrow. With an host of furious fancies, Whereof I am commander. With a burning spear And a horse of air, To the wilderness I wander. I know more than Apollo, For oft when he lies sleeping I see the stars At bloody wars In the wounded welkin weeping. By a knight of ghosts and shadows, I summoned am to tourney Ten leagues beyond The wild world's end - Methinks it is no journey. - "Unicorne" by Faun (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8zPv5aZ_FM) is a setting of an Old French troubadour song by Thibaut de Champagne (Aussi comme unicorne sui) and reminds me of Jahir thinking of Sediryl (bonus for the Galare unicorn putting in an appearance): I am just like the unicorn that, while looking, gets frightened, when it considers the Maiden... Lady, since I cannot delude, might mercy be used at this time, to make, so large a burden, bearable. to make, so large a burden, bearable. (And now I'll stop spamming you. :) )

Also Peter Gabriel: - "Wallflower" (this song guts me): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOHBjpjDsio - His cover of David Bowie's "Heroes": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsvuipGq2ns

(Hit Enter too early.) For atmosphere, anything by Black Rain (they did a whole original soundtrack to "Johnny Mnemonic" that got scrapped) is in the same vein as the Matrix soundtrack exerpt. - "Lo Tek": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNw1QZuz5aE - "Biotechno 1 & 2": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgxmhQF2V5k

I really love this list, and the theme! Some additional things that come to mind, based on the theme and/or the general tenor of the music: - Origa, "Rise" (from the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtrack): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rFW2Df5iRs

They're a synthpop band started in the mid-80's, so they should. :)

M.C.A. Hogarth

Hmmm ... These two are the ones that always tend to pop into my head while I'm reading Prince's Game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ahHWROn8M0Johnny Cash - Cover - Hurt by Nine Inch Nails https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQTCS6aWRSc Johnny Cash -God's Gonna Cut You Down.

Reg Flag reminds me a lot of Depeche Mode.
