Standard Edition: Portrait Painting, Part 2, Sasha

In this video I have taken all of the portions of the tutorial where I am only painting, not talking, and sped them up 5500x. This means that the entire video is about 30 minutes rather than 3 hours. In this way I hope to make the information in these tutorials more accessible.

This is the second of three parts and it goes through my use of oil paint to make this painting. My palette here is ivory black, alizarin crimson, vermillion, yellow-brown, and flake white and a medium of linseed oil.

Aside from the invaluable knowledge of this lesson, I just love listening to Stephen talk about painting. Thanks for being a great teacher and mentor Stephen, it brings a lot of joy to my life.

Yes, that is possible. Cracks , in general, are a 50+ years problem unless you are using varnish in your medium or have a very poor subsctate. Bottom line- cracks don't arise solely due to fat over lean.
