Great episode! Loved hearing from Fred, too. Cool insight about the double blue strats. I was just bit surprised, considering the past chat about Dylan's introduction of wacky tobacky to the boys, that you guys didn't mention Rubber Soul being "The Beatles' weed album," which is how I've thought of it for a while now. Especially "The Word," which they may say is about love, but seems (not too subtly) to be about about their discovery of, and then love of, the devil's lettuce. "Say the word and you'll be free/Say the word and be like me" being an invitation to listeners to take a toke and get enlightened.

I can’t get behind the “This is just him playing with a new pedal”. These pedals were brand new. There wasn’t a proliferation of gear and pedals and availability of stuff like there has since been. I wouldn’t be surprised if not only George got one of the first versions of all these pedal varieties supposedly being used as example of him just merely “playin with the new toy”, his playing with these wonderful toys for likely some of the first times ever in popular / rock music. So the context to the chronology and the time frames of introducing Indian music or instruments that George got turned onto during filming of ‘Help!’ And later came to playing with and befriending Ravi Shankar. And that’s gratefully how music works. And even more so when it comes to the work and impact and initial inertia of these acts and the massive affect they have had and continue to have on culture and popular music. I loved the episode but the whole Granny Paul St Paul Different “Paul songwriting modalities” also needs itself to be reviewed as an over categorization and an ignoring of otherwise nuanced “in-on-the-joke/that’s-the-point/post-modernism within songwriting and was done by the Beatles. Dizzy Miss Lizzy I agree with with but Honey Pie I’ll fairly fight someone in justifying its excellence lol. Much love and peace to you all. Love these and love the fun and grateful to and for all reading and listening. It’s a spoof and goof!
