He thinks Ae will be happier and not subject to the prejudice against gays in Thailand, as shown by Trump's disgust in that earlier episode. So it is noble in a twisted way. Sacrificing his own love to free his potential lover to be happier elsewhere as a straight man who can have a girl and one day a family.
