“You’re leaving?” she asked.
“Yes.”
Colette came over to her and gave her a side hug because she was carrying Polara.
“I’ll get my bag,” she said.
Colette drew back with a slight frown. “Your bag?”
“I want to go back to New York.”
Colette focused on something behind her. “I think Roth has other plans.”
“I’d rather go with you.”
Colette frowned, clearly torn, but eased back a second before a massive arm wrapped around Jasmine’s waist and drew her back against a hard, broad chest.
“We’re leaving, but we’re not going back to New York,” Roth said.
“You have to work,” she acknowledged with a curt nod. “I don’t have to go with you. I prefer—”
“It’s not work. We’re going somewhere quiet to rest.”
She stiffened. “I don’t need to rest. I’m fine,” she said crisply. “And you have work to do. So do I.”
“Work can wait for both of us,” Roth said.
Apparently, she was being too diplomatic. “I don’t want to go with you,” she said flatly.
“Jasmine,” Colette began in a soothing tone, but she didn’t allow her to finish.
