She didn’t move. “I don’t want to interrupt.”
The more she’d seen of the office and his hardworking staff, the more she realized she didn’t belong in this sector of his life. A couple of weeks ago, she tried to dissuade Penelope from interrupting a business luncheon, and now she was doing exactly that without giving him warning. There was no guarantee that the man she was starting to trust in private would translate into this arena. Sarai’s reassurance that she held a position in his life no woman had filled gave her a burst of optimism that was quickly waning.
She extended the cookie bag to Sarai. “You can give these to him when he’s finished. I’ll see him later.”
Sarai gave her an odd look. “How do you think he’ll react if he finds out you were here and didn’t stop by to see him?”
Happy that she hadn’t interrupted him at work?

2024-03-10 16:35:59 +0000 UTCI find it really sad that Jasmine feels so unwanted / unwelcome at his work place that she can’t bring herself to even see him because she thinks that he’ll be angry or displeased with her for ”interrupting” him…although it’s not really surprising that she feels that way if you remember what happened last time she tried to surprise him :( I hope Roth makes an effort to make her realize that she means more to him than she thinks
