Clips of first time flashback.

She was in a daze as he lifted himself off her and tipped her onto her back. She caught her breath, eyes closed, as her heartbeat thundered in her ears. His hand brushed over the tears she didn’t know were trickling down her cheek.

“I’m sorry,” he panted.

“For what?”

“I couldn’t stop. I needed… selfish,” he muttered to himself and brushed her hair back from her face. “It wasn’t supposed to be like that. What can I do?”

She cracked one eye open. His attractive face was drenched with sweat and, for once, easy to read. He looked angry and worried, not the face of a man who had just had a pleasurable release.

“How was it supposed to be?” she whispered.

“Gentle.” His brows drew together, and his hand dropped from her face. “I tried. I guess I don’t have that in me.”

When he started to lift from her, she wrapped her arms and legs around him.

“Can we try again?”

He stilled and stared down at her with an arrested look on his face. “Again?”

“I know it takes some time for guys to, and I’m sore, but…” She pressed her lips to his and dropped when he didn’t return the pressure. “We can try another position or…”

“I hurt you.”

She slumped on the mattress. “So?”

He blinked. “You screamed.”

“That’s what the girls do in movies. I think that means we’re doing it right.”

He gave her an incredulous look before he buried his face in her hair spread over the rumpled sheets and gave her the best gift. He laughed. The rusty, low sound tickled her ears and had her wrapping him up tight to savor the moment.
