Married Couple Tiff...

When she lunged for the sleek knife block, Roth pinned her wrist just shy of her goal. 

“You don’t think it would be that easy, do you?” he whispered darkly before he sank his teeth into her shoulder. 

Her thick jacket offered little protection from his fierce bite.

She thrashed beneath him. “Roth!”

When he released her, he muttered something under his breath before he spun her around and tossed her over his shoulder. 

“Let me go, you evil son of a bitch!” she bellowed as he strode out of the kitchen. 

“I’ll let my mother know what you think of her,” he said placidly. 

“I’m so done with you! You said we wouldn’t fight and look at us!”

“This is what happens when you put off a talk that should have happened five years ago.”

When they passed the formal dining room, she made a desperate grab for the doorjamb. Roth smacked her ass hard enough that it shocked her into letting go. 

“You hit me one more time, I swear to God I’m going to find a way to ruin the rest of your life!” she bellowed as she pummeled his back and kicked until he clamped her legs to his chest. “And you have the nerve to wonder why I went to my father instead of talking to you. Look what you’re doing to me! Why would I try to reason with a psychopathic, manipulative fuck tard?”

“If I did then what I’m doing now, we wouldn’t be in this situation to begin with,” he snapped as he deposited her onto the couch and loomed over her when she struggled to sit up. “Your running days are over. We’re having this out.”

“Having what out?” 

“What we would have discussed if you’d picked up the phone and talked to me instead of going to your father.”

For those who are alarmed by the biting and butt smacking, I said that Roth kind of unravels in this book, especially in these first chapters when they're discussing all this stuff from the past. He goes nuclear, especially when stuff starts being revealed. But he is right, that this is what they should have done years ago. This discussion is 5 years late. Most people would say too late, but he's forcing her to talk about all this, even if it's a sore topic for both of them. Let's just say, they both go off the rails.
